Axiom Telecom First to Sell Google Nexus 7 in UAE

Published Aug 5, 2012

Axiom Telecom has reaffirmed its reputation as the first port-of-call for those seeking the latest cutting-edge tech devices, after becoming the first UAE retailer to stock the Google Nexus 7.
While other businesses were still taking pre-orders last week, the fast-moving retail pioneer was already selling the coveted tablet in-store to hordes of eager customers.
It is not the first time Axiom Telecom has stolen a march on its competitors in both the region and on the global scale. In May, Axiom stores in Dubai became the first outlets in the world to sell the Samsung Galaxy S3, one of 2012’s most eagerly anticipated tech releases.
The Google Nexus 7 has been positively received by critics and consumers alike, winning plaudits for its value for money and enticing Tegra 3 quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM and 1280 x 800p HD display.
Running on Google’s Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) OS, the 7 inch, 10.4mm thick tablet also features scratch-resistant Corning® Gorilla® Glass, and a 1.2-megapixel inbuilt forward-facing camera.
Google Nexus 7 is emerging as a major contender in the tablet space, with recent findings by search-targeted advertising network and research firm Chitika indicating that its impressive early usage figures put it on course to catch up with other popular Android tablets such as the Kindle Fire and Samsung Galaxy Tab.
“At Axiom Telecom we do our utmost to stay attuned to the needs of our customers,” said Faisal Al Bannai, CEO, Axiom Telecom.

“The Middle East is one of the most tech-savvy nations in the world and the demand for the latest and greatest devices is extraordinary. We are thriving because we offer an unrivaled online and in-store service experience that brings people the products they want, without delay or compromise.”

2,000-strong Axiom Telecom is the Middle East’s largest mobile retailer, currently boasting a portfolio of 575 retail points and reaches over 3,742 points of sale across the region.

In addition to a growing reputation for debuting technology ahead of the competition, Axiom Telecom stands out for a host of customer service innovations such as a 60-second data transfer, 1 hour express repair, a pick-up and delivery service for repairs, stand-by phones during the repair period, and a 2-year warranty on select brands.

The company continues to evolve and grow, buoyed by an electronics device market that is, in the UAE alone, estimated by Business Monitor International’s UAE Consumer Electronics Industry Report to reach a value of USD3.8 billion in 2012 and USD4.8 billion by 2016.
