Published Mar 24, 2015

UAE-based organizations DANWAY Electrical & Mechanical Engineering, Bee’ah, Al Futtaim, and wasl Asset Management Group, were recognised today as the Middle East’s leading business innovators at the SAP MENA Quality Awards.

The SAP Quality Awards celebrate customers who have excelled in the planning and execution of their SAP software implementations in line with SAP quality principles, and delivering significantly enhanced ROI. Other companies in the region who have won Gold include Al Nasser Group from Saudi Arabia.

“Our Quality Awards recognize how MENA organizations of all sizes and industries are using the latest technology to drive innovation and value realization, and support the next generation of customer and citizen services, while serving as best practices for the wider EMEA region and around the world,” said Frank Forndron, Head of Customer Office SAP MENA and Quality Management for SAP Emerging Markets.

In the Rapid Delivery Category, the UAE’s DANWAY Electrical & Mechanical Engineering, the engineering arm of Al-Nowais Investments, won gold for partnering with Computer Sciences Corporation to deliver an integrated ERP application. The UAE’s Etihad Rail took silver with partner Accenture, and Albatha Group with partner NTTdata won bronze.

“We replaced disjointed and siloed systems with an integrated platform that reduces the procurement process life cycle, increases project performance efficiency, and reduces the time for generating financial statements and payroll – enabling us to boost the effectiveness and control over operations,” said Amit Bansal, CFO-Danway Electrical and Mechanical Engineering LLC.

Bee'ah, a Sharjah-based environmental management company, won gold in Business Transformation for an ERP project with partner Innosoft to integrate 2,900 employees in four sites and nine plants.

“This was a well-planned and managed ERP project that has broken down silos to re-engineer our business, and free up our teams from routine work to focus on key business tasks, as we aim to make Sharjah the first Arab zero waste-to-landfill city,” said Yousif Al Zarouni, Director of Procurement, Contracts, Legal and IT, Bee’ah.

In Business Transformation, Kuwait’s Equate Petrochemical Company took silver with SAP FS MENA, while the Saudi Arabia Military Industries Corporation received bronze with partner Al Bilad Arabia.

This year’s awards featured three Innovation Excellence Award Winners: Al Futtaim for Cloud, Al Nasser Trading and Import Company for SAP HANA, and wasl Asset Management Group for Mobility.

The UAE’s Al Futtaim, won the Cloud Excellence award for implementing SAP’s SuccessFactors with partner GP Strategies to drive the “Talent for Growth” change agenda.

“As part of our goal to double our business over the next five years, we need to attract, engage, develop and reward the best talent and unite our companies under one HR system. Success Factors is a key part of this vision in terms of increasing productivity, improving collaboration, and reducing expenses, while supporting up to 20,000+ users on one platform,” said Colin Gow, Group Head of HR Operations, Al Futtaim Private Co LLC.

The Mobility Excellence Award was won by wasl Asset Management Group, a UAE-based real estate portfolio and asset management company, which worked with partners Accely and Mindtree to implement a mobile channel for more than 20,000 customer, partner, and staff transactions.

“This program was well-aligned with our business strategy, and is helping us to enhance our customer experience by making our services available round the clock with the convenience of customer location. This has also improved asset reliability, service performance, and time-to-service – with clearly defined KPIs that will support the growth of Dubai’s property and real estate market,” said Abdulla Obaidalla, Chief Operating Officer, wasl.

For HANA Excellence, SAP recognised the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Al Nasser Group for its successful implementation of an SAP HANA Business Suite solution with partner Inntree including Finance, Controlling, Human Resources, Sales & Distribution, and Banking Integration modules. The second winner was the Kingdom’s Abdul Rahman Ali Alturki with partner Baaskaar.

“Our core platform is based on the newest technology and standard apps from the SAP HANA platform, which has reduced costs, data entry time and increased efficiency with real-time analysis. This enhances our growing business needs in both retail and professional lighting in line with the Kingdom’s increasing customer demands” said Alaa Al Nasser, Managing Director - Retail, Al Nasser Group.

All the winners, will advance to the prestigious SAP Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) Quality Awards finals.
