Red Hat Advances Analytics, Management, Operations for Private, Public and Hybrid Clouds

Published Jun 30, 2015

Red Hat, Inc., the world's leading provider of open source solutions, today announced several new analytics and management innovations to help customers optimize their on-premise and cloud deployments. Red Hat introduced Red Hat Access Insights to provide customers with operational analytics, and announced expanded capabilities in Red Hat Cloud Infrastructure, Red Hat CloudForms, and Red Hat Satellite.

Red Hat's unique, fully open source management portfolio provides customers with the flexibility to select the best private and public cloud platforms for their business and IT needs. Its open infrastructure also affords users the choice of modular, easily consumable, highly-integratable management products or a complete cloud stack with integrated cloud infrastructure platform, management and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS).

Introducing Red Hat Access Insights

Red Hat Access Insights is a service designed to help customers proactively prevent and resolve issues impacting critical business operations. This new feature provides IT managers and system administrators with better visibility into their Red Hat infrastructure, and focuses on four critical areas: performance, availability, stability, and security. The software can alert managers to potential issues – such as configuration problems or security vulnerabilities - within each of these areas so IT administrators can use the Red Hat Access Insights dashboard to identify, understand, and correct or intercept issues before any business impact occurs.

Red Hat Access Insights is the industry’s only operations analytics service to leverage the extensive technical knowledge and deep product expertise of Red Hat Certified Architects and Red Hat's award-winning customer support team. By using actionable intelligence to proactively manage and optimize your Red Hat infrastructure across physical, virtual and cloud deployments, Red Hat Access Insights helps users to identify and resolve current and potential technical issues. With Red Hat Access Insights, users can reduce downtime and spend more time focusing on strategic goals.

Expanding capabilities across Red Hat's management portfolio

Red Hat also introduced updates to its management portfolio, including:

General availability of Red Hat Cloud Infrastructure 6, the latest version of its comprehensive solution to support organizations on their journey from traditional datacenter virtualization to OpenStack-powered clouds, featuring a new, unified installation experience. The unified installer is designed to enable smoother deployment of a complete private cloud spanning infrastructure and management platforms and reducing the time and skills required to build a complete private cloud.

Support for Microsoft System Center Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM)-based private clouds in Red Hat CloudForms, adding to CloudForms' already robust multi-platform support, spanning VMware vSphere, Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform, Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization, and Amazon Web Services.

The beta availability of Red Hat Satellite 6.1, including new Docker registry functionality that enables users to define lifecycles for the popular Docker image format, increasing control and security for enterprises

A preview of container management capabilities in Red Hat CloudForms, enabling customers to gain valuable insight into container based workloads running across multiple infrastructure providers including: Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform, VMware vSphere, Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Hyper-V, and Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization. The new container features also integrate with Kubernetes, the container orchestration technology pioneered by Google and available in Red Hat Atomic Enterprise Platform and OpenShift Enterprise.

Availability

Red Hat Access Insights for Red Hat Enterprise Linux is supported in versions 6 and 7 and delivered through the Red Hat Customer Portal or Red Hat Satellite. It is available via an early adopter program, supported in Red Hat Cloud Infrastructure 6 and delivered through the Customer Portal or Red Hat CloudForms.

Red Hat Cloud Infrastructure 6, Red Hat CloudForms 3.2 with support for Microsoft SCVMM-based private clouds, and the Red Hat Satellite 6.1 beta are available now for customers. General availability of container management features in Red Hat CloudForms and Red Hat Satellite will be announced at a later date.
