Canon Strengthens 4K Camera Segment with C300 Mark II and XC10

Published Aug 25, 2015

Canon Middle East, a leader in imaging and business solutions, demonstrated its commitment to the film production and news broadcasting industry of the region by unveiling its new range of ultra-high definition (4K) cameras.

In collaboration with its partner National Stores, Canon unveiled two powerful cameras--the Canon EOS C300 Mark II targeted at the professionals in the field of film production and broadcasting and the Canon XC10 4K Camcorder, targeted at amateurs who are interested in shooting premium quality videos and video journalists who need a high-end camera that is light weight and easy to use.

4K-cameras boast a pixel format of 3840x2160 pixels four times that of the current 1920x1080 Full HD television sets, meaning it has greater clarity and depth. The broadcast, satellite and digital media sectors are investing heavily in ultra-high definition (4K) cameras and are looking at ways to create creative, innovative content.

“4K is the next leap big in broadcast and TV, and for video production companies, there’s little benefit in standing still. Our role at Canon is to help facilitate creative expression at all ends of the spectrum. And that's why we have the C300 Mark II and the XC10 cameras which reflect the evolving needs of video producers,” said Hendrik Verbrugghe, Marketing Director at Canon Middle East.

Binoj Nair, Marketing Manager, Canon Middle East addressed the audience followed by a product brief and a demonstration by Raul Gabat and Yoshifumi Satake.

“The momentum building for 4K underscores just how much the market has evolved in the decade since HD was rolled out. The introduction of the new 4K cameras into Canon’s professional fleet will serve as a game-changer for the broadcast industry,” said Ateeq, Sales & Marketing Director from National Stores.

The Canon XC10 4K Camcorder is compact, palm-sized lightweight camera that has a versatile design for convenient 4K/Full HD video shooting and 12 Megapixel digital still photography. The Canon C300 Mark II is an evolutionary 2nd generation Cinema EOS 4K camera system with a wide range of new and improved features including 4K/2K/Full HD internal and external recording.

Both the camera are equipped with Wi-Fi functionality, a handy need when doing arial shoots with the drones and quadcopters and offer a seamless, easy and cost-effective way to 4K production.
