VASCO Launches Multi-Application Security Model For Strong Authentication

Published Nov 17, 2009
VASCO Data Security Inc. (Nasdaq: VDSI; www.vasco.com), a leading software security company specializing in authentication products, today launched its multi-application security model.

The strategy is designed to offer enterprises’ employees and customers secure access to multiple applications with the use of one DIGIPASS hardware or software credential. The unique authentication and signature ID is stored in VASCO’s comprehensive and centralised IDENTIKEY server – which can be expanded to support multiple access points and applications. VASCO launched the multi-application model at the CARTES tradeshow in Paris, France on November 17 to November 19. Support for VASCO’s multiple applications model is available on the market today.

Potential applications to be secured are numerous.
IDENTIKEY allows that remote access via VPN, LAN access, mobile access via handheld devices and webmail of employees are secured with one single DIGIPASS credential.

The IDENTIKEY/DIGIPASS combination offers that same employee secure access to SaaS (Software as a Service) and hosted business applications such as CRM (Customer Relation Management), ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning), e-accountancy, social security and many others.

The benefits for a company are clear:

• The combination of best-of-breed security, convenience, and low Total Cost of Ownership remain a key driver for effective security.

• Flexibility: Any organization that installs IDENTIKEY can expand its security to include multiple applications that are vital to the organization.

• Compliance: IDENTIKEY can be extended to secure access to sensitive applications and data which must be protected to comply with corporate and government standards.

• Convenience: IDENTIKEY supports the complete portfolio of DIGIPASS hardware and software credentials, including mobile and SMS authentication.

VASCO will bring the multi-application offering to the market as part of its multi-application – multi-platform model. The model is designed to provide customers with a complete offering to effectively secure and expand their business. This means that a fee will be paid for every end user and every business application linked with IDENTIKEY in a predefined period. For VASCO, the combination of supporting multiple applications opens the door to offering an authentication and credential sharing platform to the market.

“With our multi-application authentication offering, we are providing solutions to our customers that address the needs of authentication for growing businesses,” says Jan Valcke, VASCO’s President & COO. “Companies that are balancing security, access, and compliance can protect themselves today with a platform that can support them in the future with VASCO’s IDENTIKEY.”
