SDC Goes Open Source With Red Hat

Published Nov 19, 2009
Jordan's Security Depositary Center (SDC), has implemented an open source strategy, utilizing Red Hat Enterprise Linux, the company announced.

The non-profit public utility institution, which oversees the registration and deposit of securities, is using Red Hat as the foundation to a number of different e-services, both existing and under implementation.

At present SDC is developing applications including e-payments and its portal, which will include enhanced account viewing, public data, statistical data, electronic initial public offering (e-IPO) and mailbox services, all of which are based on an open source environment.

SDC selected Red Hat Enterprise Linux for its interoperability, which allows it run on the organization's IBM and Dell servers, as well as for its Red Hat Network Satellite console, which allows centralized management of all resources.

Samir Jaradat, CEO of SDC commented: "The main advantage to using open source and working with Red Hat is the flexibility to develop and maintain our technology assets internally. Red Hat not only saves us money, but it also provides us with a level of technology sophistication and interoperability that gives us the tools to develop solutions that directly meet the needs of our business."
