NETGEAR Supports Telecom Services Providers In The Middle East In Blocking Unsafe And Explicit Websites

Published Nov 25, 2009

NETGEAR, a worldwide provider of technologically advanced, branded networking and storage products, has announced its support for telecom services providers in the Middle East in their campaign to block unsafe and explicit websites across the Middle East. In line with this, the company underlines the unique security control features of its Wireless-N 300 Router (WNR2000), a new router with the capacity to filter more than 50 categories of content and let end-users and small businesses owners restrict access to pre-determined websites in all their web-connected devices, thereby mitigating threats and risks from unsafe sites.

The ‘WNR2000’ incorporates a comprehensive set of features, such as remote management from mobile devices and highly flexible settings, which are not available in other solutions. NETGEAR’s new router can be accessed remotely and protects connected devices such as PCs, gaming consoles, portable music players, while allowing users to customise settings through a Web browser. It also has a Broadband Usage Meter, which provides internet traffic monitor and usage alerts. At present, NETGEAR is working closely with Ministries of Education across the Middle East to help parents control the amount of exposure to the internet their children have and effectively protect them from unsafe websites.

“Our customers have expressed the need to monitor what is being viewed on the Web in their homes and small offices, and in line with this, we are launching the WNR2000,” said Ahmad Zeidan, Channel Sales Manager, NETGEAR Middle East. “We have integrated highly-advanced filtering technology into our routers, which is the most effective and all-encompassing solution on the market today, as part of our collaboration with telecom services providers in blocking offensive websites. We are confident that ‘WNR2000’ will be appreciated by the Middle East market, and we are anticipating active movement for the product in the region within the coming months.”

In addition to extensive filtering capacity and convenient remote access, ‘WNR2000’ is backed by a one-year warranty and 24/7 technical support. Other features of the new router include an easy-to-use power on/off switch to help conserve energy, in line with the company’s commitment to ‘green’ technologies. Furthermore, the product’s packaging is manufactured with at least 80 per cent recycled materials.
