Dubai Airport Freezone’s Five-Star, Efficient Customer Service Makes It An Easy Choice For Investors

Published Dec 13, 2009
Dubai Airport Freezone’s “five star,” and efficient customer service and first class facilities makes it an easy choice for investors looking to set up an office in Dubai.

A.N. Krishnan, General Manager – Operations, of Nilgiris International FZCO., said “The infrastructure is first class and the service is five-star with an innovative administrative service.”
When he had an issue, he said he was not surprised that his issue was addressed the next day. “This is the kind of service our Customers and Principals are looking for. In 2008, when we needed to establish our operations in Dubai, I took my investors to all the Free Zones in the UAE. We finally selected the Dubai Airport Free Zone for their infrastructure facilities, proximity to local market, airport and sea port, flexibility and encouraging foreign companies to establish business.”

He added that the support service available was one factor that helped them to set up their business at the Freezone. “I liked the fast track process implemented by the management, provided your documents are in order.”

Mr. Ibrahim Ahli, Director of Marketing of the Dubai Airport Freezone said “It was not luck or chance that the Dubai Airport Freezone is home to 1,500 multinational companies. We deliver quality service to our clients and excellent facilities. We engage our customers in constant dialogue to learn of their needs and proactively seek to listen and implement them.”
“The Dubai Airport Freezone is No. 1 in a field of 18 Free Zones in the country although our area is a lot less than the other Free Zones according to a study by a World Bank owned agency.”

He added that the Freezone contributed by 1.28% and 2.15% in Dubai’s GDP in 2006 and 2007 respectively, which according to Economists (GOIC, 2008): ‘Due to the small number of companies working in the Free zone in comparison to those in Dubai, as a whole, the contribution of the Free zone in GDP seems to be substantive’.

Nilgiris International FZCO’s core business is industrial chemicals and raw materials for plastic conversion. Among a number of agencies providing products and services through us, Mr Krishnan added that GPN from France and Sun Chemicals Group from Italy are the industry forerunners in their respective fields and it is a matter of pride to bring their products to the customers in the region.
Besides, Nilgiris supplies PVC stabilizers & Lubricants used to manufacture large pipes for transporting water and other industrial products.

Nilgiris also is a supplier of adhesives and coatings primarily for the construction industry. Apart from construction, the products are sold to other industries viz. packaging, and hygiene products etc.
Although the company was established in the year when the financial crisis started, Nilgiris had targeted to break even in the first year of its operation but in reality “Our performance has exceeded our expectations.”
“Aware that our company has started its operation in difficult times, we had to be cost conscious by applying cost control measures, innovative marketing techniques and strict financial discipline. All these measures were done without compromising on Customer Service and Customer Satisfaction. This way one can gear up and be ready when times are favorable.”

By 2010, Nilgiris plans to market industrial machinery and machine tools, expand office space and take a warehouse which will involve large investment. They also plan to upgrade their status to FZE from FZCO.

Mr. Krishnan said that the local authorities are working towards ban on non-degradable plastics, especially shopping bags. Nilgiris is gearing up to play its due role in protecting the environment by introducing biodegradable additives for plastics.
“Competition is tough in our field but we score over the competition. We value quality, service, and sustainable growth and look for long term association with our suppliers, customers and service providers.”
