Du Launches Video On Demand For First Time In The UAE

Providing customers with state-of-the-art services, du announced the launch its new Video on Demand (VOD) service. This latest offering from du, available for the first time in the UAE, will enable TV subscribers to access hundreds of movies from the comfort of their own home. From 20th December 2009, viewers will be able to select from a rich catalogue of the latest Arabic cinema, Hollywood and Bollywood blockbusters and some of the world’s most classic movies, all at the click of a button with du TV.

The Video on Demand service will be available to all du customers, both existing and new, who have subscribed to du TV. du customers only have to select their film by a simple touch on the du TV remote control and can watch it as many times as they like within 48 hours. Like a DVD, customers can pause, rewind and fast-forward the action – empowering them to have full control over their viewing experience.

Video on Demand allows customers to browse through a catalogue of movies including Arabic cinema, Hollywood smash-hit blockbusters, Bollywood movies and some of the most beloved classic movies ever to grace the silver screen, simply through the du TV remote control, under the categories - ‘New additions’, ‘Top Titles’, ‘Special Offers’ and ‘All Time Classics’, subscribers will easily be able to find exactly which movie they are looking for, and even watch a trailer of that movie before purchasing it for viewing at their leisure. New movie titles will be added to the catalogue each month, with thousands of titles to be made available to du VoD subscribers.

The service is available to all du TV and du TV+ customers. du is in the process of upgrading its customers to its du TV service for free, offering an unmatched TV viewing experience including an array of advanced features such as intuitive and simplified search and display, superior channel browsing, instant channel change capability, an ergonomically-designed enhanced electronic program guide and the option of pausing, rewinding and recording live programming.

Moreover, along with these great features and benefits movies will be available for rental at a very competitive price range between AED 7-AED 19, and rentals will be conveniently charged in one consolidated bill for all du Home services issued every month.
