Published Dec 17, 2009

Juniper Networks® (NYSE: JNPR) announced that it has extended its number one leadership position in high-end network security and SSL VPN categories and achieved the number two leadership position in the global secure routing category per a recently published report from Infonetics Research report titled, “3Q2009 Network Security Appliances and Software Market.”

According to the report, Juniper accomplished a market share gain of 9.2% over the previous year in high-end network security appliances market, and remains the clear leader with a 43.7% share of that market – the biggest share gain since Infonetics began tracking this category. Juniper also led the SSL VPN market at 31.7%, retaining the number one leadership position since the category’s inception in 2001.

“Juniper continues to advance its leadership position in the network security market by successfully enabling companies to secure their networks and focus their resources on growing their business,” said Jeff Wilson, principal analyst for network security at Infonetics Research. “Juniper consistently holds the number one leadership position in the high-end firewall and SSL VPN markets and has been gaining market share in the overall network security market.”

“Data center consolidation has driven demand in 2009 for tightly integrated networking and security across our service provider, enterprise, and public sector customers,” said Mark Bauhaus, executive vice president and general manager, Service Layer Technologies at Juniper Networks. “Juniper Networks SRX Series and SA Series have been deployed in some of the largest networks in the world and we are working on innovative new technologies that will further extend Juniper’s leadership position in the market.”
