Civil Building Projects Worth USD 48.2 Billion To Spur Demand For Smart Networking Technologies In Qatar, Says NETGEAR

Published Dec 21, 2009

The completion of 186 civil building projects currently under construction in Qatar, which are collectively valued at USD 48.2 billion, according to figures released by Proleads, will spur the demand for smart networking technologies, says NETGEAR, a worldwide provider of technologically advanced, branded networking and storage products. In line with its aims to leverage the expected rise in demand, the company has unveiled in Qatar its ‘Powerline’ AV Ethernet Adapter Kit (XAVB101) and HD Plus Ethernet Adapter Kit (HDXB111), two products designed to turn electrical power outlets into high-speed Internet and home network connections.

Based on the HomePlug AV standard, the ‘Powerline’ AV Ethernet Adapter Kit provides reliable, high-speed internet and network connections up to 200 Mbps to devices such as digital media receivers, set-top boxes, game consoles, personal computers, networked attached storage and to the home network using existing electrical power outlets. The UPA (Universal Powerline Association)-based ‘Powerline’ HD Plus Ethernet Adapter Kit is based on a plug-in design and push-button data encryption, and provides privacy and security for a trouble-free set-up.

“For real estate developers who are focusing to deliver more value to their property offerings and increase business potential, smart networking technologies opens up a host of new opportunities,” said Sayed Jawed, Regional Sales and Marketing Manager, MEA, NETGEAR Middle East. “Furthermore, the demand for consistent high-speed Internet connectivity throughout the entire home and work environment is making our products such as adapter kits more in-demand among users. With the continuously growing popularity of smart networking technologies amidst the steady upbeat outlook of Qatar’s residential and commercial construction sector, we recognise a significant potential for our ‘Powerline’ AV and HD Plus Ethernet Adapter Kits in the country.”

Compatible with both wired and wireless routers and gateways, one ‘Powerline’ AV Ethernet Adapter can be plugged into a router and another into any Ethernet-ready device. As an added feature, the subtle, natural shade of the Powerline kit is designed to blend into its environment and minimize cluttered appearance. ‘Powerline’ HD Plus Ethernet Adapter works by plugging it into an AC outlet near a modem, gateway, or router and another near any Ethernet-ready device, which will enable consumers to instantly enjoy speeds up to 200 Mbps and access to reliable HD streaming. Both Powerline devices are backed by a one-year warranty and 24/7 technical support.

“Smart networking technology is attracting a wider range of stakeholders in the market due to the extensive array of benefits it offers - from making daily routines more convenient to promoting energy efficiency. In addition, the boom in consumer electronics such as home entertainment and personal communication systems is also stirring up the demand for smart technologies that support their convenient use. Amidst all these, the continuous evolution of our ‘Powerline’ devices underlines our commitment towards providing innovative networking solutions for the most demanding markets across the region,” concluded Jawed.
