IBM (NYSE: IBM) and Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority (DSOA), today announced a new initiative for transforming DSOA’s processes using IBM-Filenet Enterprise Content Management Solutions to better manage and share information while capturing new efficiencies. The solution will offer an automated business environment and help deliver smarter business outcomes at Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO), the region’s premier integrated innovations hub for high-tech industries.
Implemented in phases; the first phase involved the implementation of IBM – Filenet Capture and Content Manager for the back log conversion of hardcopies. This has facilitated DSOA move from a paper based environment towards a paperless one. Starting January 2010, DSOA will start the second phase of implementation to fully integrate IBM’s content management solutions with Oracle’s ERP solution.
Gulf Commercial Group (GCG), a leading office automation and imaging technology solution providers and IBM’s business partner in the UAE, oversees the implementation of the solution phases which include phase one of digitizing all of DSOA’s content and archive it systematically and phase two of automated business processes that will eventually contribute to delivering tangible organisation-wide benefits, including enhanced productivity
Abdulsalam Rahma Bastaki, Director of IT and Services, Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority, said: “The initiative is an outcome of our ambition to automate our document management and transform our processes as part of our strategy to streamline and optimize our operations and leverage considerable cost and time savings... We continually receive significant interest from major businesses that we aim to host through creating a universally recognized state-of-the-art infrastructure that will support technology-based industries seeking to enter or expand operations across the region,” Abdulsalam added.
“With the world getting smarter and the increased volume and variety of information, organizations are more focused on optimizing their businesses using information in new ways.” said Bashar Kilani, Manager of IBM Software Business - Middle East. “Organizations are not only looking at solving the information challenge but also at ways to optimize their processes and the speed of insight generated into their business while having confidence that the decisions and actions taken will yield the best business outcomes.
