Epson Gets Closer To Education With Launch Of A Range Of Ultra-Short-Throw Projectors In Middle East

Published Jan 10, 2010

Epson, the global market leader in projectors , has announced that it has recently launched in the Middle East its first range of ultra-short-throw projectors designed to meet the growing demand for easy-to-use ICT equipment in classrooms. The new models are ideal for use with standard or interactive whiteboards as the ultra-short-throw distance significantly reduces glare and shadow interference.

The Epson ultra-short-throw range consists of five projectors, two of which have inbuilt interactive capabilities and turn any projection surface into an interactive one. The Epson EB-460i and the Epson EB-450Wi use an interactive pen to give the teacher total control of the projection area. This allows notes and additions to be made and saved during a lesson.

For larger classrooms, a teacher can broadcast the lesson via an inbuilt 10W speaker. The range also includes Ethernet and optional wireless connectivity to allow teachers to deliver presentations over a network and effectively engage students in a large or small classroom.

Further products in the range include the Epson EB-460, the Epson EB-440W and the Epson EB-450W. These ultra-short-throw products offer the same functionality as the Epson EB-460i and the Epson EB-450Wi without the inbuilt interactivity, making them perfect for classrooms that require brighter, clearer presentations without glare or shadows. This range of products provides an easy-to-use solution so teachers can focus on the lesson rather than the ICT equipment.

Offering a strong blend of brightness and resolution, the Epson ultra-short-throw range features up to 3,000 lumens Colour Light Output. The Epson EB-440Wi, Epson EB-450Wi and Epson 450W offer WXGA resolution, which allows users to fully leverage widescreen notebooks or tablets and widescreen DVD content.

Khalil El-Dalu, General Manager, Epson Middle East, said, "The education and training segment has emerged as an important growth market for our products, particularly in view of the ongoing trend in the Middle East wherein both the public and private sectors are increasingly pouring substantial investments in various education and training programs. Technology has certainly played a crucial role in enhancing the impact of education and training in the region; in light of this, Epson's new ultra-short-throw projectors have been designed and fully equipped with powerful features that enhance learning and promote a more engaging and interactive classroom environment.”

“Moreover, we have identified the need to keep it simple, plus easy to use and maintain. The Epson ultra-short-throw range all use USB plug-and-play connectivity and require no additional driver support, so installation and usability are extremely easy,” he concluded.
