Samsung Electronics Wins 23 ICES Innovation Awards

Published Jan 10, 2010

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., an established leader and innovator in consumer electronics, information technology and telecommunications, is proud to announce that 23 products were honored with International CES 2010 Innovations Awards including three best of innovation awards.

With more than 100 CES Innovation Awards won over the past three years, Samsung’s additions this year cover multiple categories, including TVs, home theater systems, digital audio, cameras, home appliances and mobile phones.

The International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is held each January of every year at the Las Vegas Convention Center and sponsored by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) which is the trade organization for the consumer electronics industry in the United States. The CEA represents more than 2,000 corporate members involved in the design, development, manufacturing, distribution and integration of consumer electronics products.

The CES is considered one of the major technology-related trade shows in the world. Aside from having around 2.500 exhibitors in 2010, the CES also offers many awards to the newest innovative technologies and has other different awards categories.

"We are honored to be recognized by CES for our company’s achievements and commitment to creating leading-edge designs and innovations that enrich consumers’ lives and homes," said Duke Park, General Manager of Samsung Cairo Office. “The 23 prestigious ICES 2010 Innovation Awards, including the three Eco-Design Products, reinforce Samsung's ongoing efforts to provide technology and services that deliver on the promise of innovation from 3D to Web-TV to LEDs to mobility.”

Since 1976, the prestigious Innovations Design and Engineering Awards have recognized achievements in the most innovative consumer electronics products. It is sponsored by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), the producer of the International Consumer Electronics Show, the world's largest consumer technology tradeshow, and endorsed by the Industrial Designers Society of America.

Samsung’s “Best of Innovations 2010” Awards are:

- Samsung UNXXC9000: World’s slimmest LED HDTV with the first on-board TV display touch-screen remote control with built-in 3D technology that sets a new standard for jaw-dropping home theater picture quality and connectivity.

- Samsung BD-C6900: World’s first 3D Blu-ray player that delivers incredible 3D pictures at home, along with multi-channel HD surround sound for immersive and vivid entertainment.

- Samsung HT-C6730W: 7.1-channel Blu-ray home theater system with advanced connectivity offering the most powerful audio system to match stunning video clarity.

Samsung provides a new 3D home entertainment to consumers with an immersive and comfortable 3D picture quality never experienced before and never seen anywhere else. Samsung is eliminating one of the barriers of 3D TV adoption – lack of content- by rendering 2D content into 3D with the push of a button. By fostering an exclusive global partnership with DreamWorks Animation and Technicolor, Samsung creates the comprehensive ecosystem to make 3D entertainment a reality in consumers’ homes in 2010.

In addition, Samsung Electronics honoree award-winners include: two LED HDTVs, one plasma TV, two Blu-ray players, two digital audio players, two digital cameras, one refrigerator, six mobile phones, and one LCD monitor.

Among Samsung’s “Eco-Design and Sustainable Technology” Awards are:

- Samsung FTQ307NWGX: Samsung’s 30" free-standing induction range provides consumers with a new choice for cooking that offers fast and efficient cooking, precise controls, cool-to-the-touch features, and easy cleaning all at an exceptional value.

- Samsung Reclaim™ (SPH-m560): The first phone in the U.S. constructed from eco-friendly bio-plastic materials, and the only mobile phone honored in this category in the 2010 awards.

- 700Z - OLED Digital Photo Frame: This is Samsung’s first OLED digital photo frame which features a 7–inch OLED screen as well as many intuitive enhancements including Blue-tooth and Wi-Fi capabilities to send photos to the frame wirelessly.
