Fujitsu's new generation mono-socket Primergy rack and tower servers represent a leap in technical innovation, delivering excellent customer value and versatility, and unlocking advanced performance capabilities at keenly competitive prices.
The next-generation Primergy TX150 S7 tower and RX100 S6 rack servers are available worldwide immediately.
The new Fujitsu mono-socket server family features fully-revised architecture based on the latest Intel processors, and complements dual-socket servers introduced late in 2009. This new generation of entry-level servers is specially designed to take advantage of the very latest Intel Xeon processor 3400 series, as well as the dual-core 32nm processors announced today, January 7, previously code-named 'Clarkdale.' These include the Intel Pentium processor G6950, and Intel CoreTM i3-530 and 540 models.
Both the Primergy TX150 S7 and the Primergy RX100 S6 are based on industry standard architectures, and offer an easily expanded, multi-usage server solution for customers looking to cost-effectively optimize IT infrastructures and improve operational efficiency.
Designed to provide exceptionally high levels of system modularity, the new Primergy rack and tower servers deliver a winning combination of performance, making them ideal all-purpose servers for small and mid-size businesses, as well as in non mission-critical infrastructures. At the same time, these servers further optimize energy consumption, thanks to the new generation of even more efficient power supplies.
Jens-Peter Seick, Vice-President, x86 Server Business at Fujitsu Technology Solutions, says:
"Our flexible new generation Primergy servers deliver state-of-the-art server technology at very affordable prices, providing price-conscious customers with high-end performance, coupled with versatility and reliability. The Primergy TX150 S7 and Primergy RX100 S6 servers are flexible and powerful enough to be ideally suited for general all-round use, and affordable enough to be very attractive to customers in the small and mid-size market sector."
Modularity combined with robust performance:
In line with Fujitsu's focus on continuous improvements in all-round performance across the Primergy family, expanded performance and increased energy efficiency are hallmarks of the new Primergy TX150 S7 and RX100 S6. The new models are enhanced by the new processors, the second-generation (Gen2) PCIe slots and SAS 2.0 interfaces.
Thanks to its new architecture, the new mono servers feature an exceptional level of expandability - of up to 32GB of RAM. Both the rack and tower models represent a breakthrough in performance levels meaning they are even capable of supporting resource-intensive database processing - tasks that were previously only possible in higher-end systems.
The Primergy TX150 S7 server is designed as a hard-working dual-core and quad-core single-processor system for decentralized infrastructures. The flexible server is an excellent foundation stone in a cost-saving configuration, and can also be used as a dependable database server. Underlining its versatility, the Primergy TX150 S7 also has plenty of capacity for memory expansion, meaning that it can punch above its weight in virtualized environments. Overall, the Primergy TX150 S7 features unrivalled system expandability and availability, along with enhanced scalability and reliability for a mono-processor system.
The Primergy RX100 S6 rack server is a mono-socket rack-optimized server. It delivers very high modularity, energy efficiency and great performance. Optimized to perform as a true multi-purpose server, it is a good match for SME infrastructures or non-mission critical environments such as web server farms, terminal servers and infrastructure servers. The modular hard drive concept, supporting either two 3.5" disks or four 2.5" drives, provides a new level of technical options, and enables system-ready support for a wide range of applications and IT scenarios. Modular RAID configurations support SATA, SAS and SSD hard drives.
