Batelco, Link2One Sign New Agreement To Deliver Extended Roaming Services For Batelco's Customers

Published Jan 13, 2010

Batelco's world class roaming agreements have been further enhanced thanks to the signing of a new partnership with a leading company in the Roaming Hub business.

Batelco Chief Executive Bahrain Gert Rieder said that he was delighted to announce Batelco's Roaming Hub service in cooperation with Link2One, a joint company between MACH and Telefonica Spain.

The new deal allows Batelco to sidestep the need for expensive and time consuming bi-lateral roaming agreements with individual providers. Instead, signing onto Link2One allows Batelco to avail of the hub's wide coverage through its framework of multilateral roaming agreements for data, prepaid, voice and 3G services.

"Since the agreement was finalised recently, Batelco's total number of commercial roaming agreements with operators worldwide for all roaming services has shot up by 50 new operators to reach 524," stated Mr. Rieder.

He said, "This is only the beginning and we are looking forward to the rapid expansion of our global advanced coverage which will allow us to deliver an unrivalled customer experience, with new operators that can be easily connected to the hub without delay."

"The streamlined service will also help us to reduce the operational cost of managing our global partner network," he added.

Batelco General Manager Products & Services Division Adel Daylami said Batelco, as the leading roaming services provider in the Kingdom, ensures reliable roaming services for its customers thanks to its commercial agreements with world class operators.

"We are very pleased to offer a better roaming experience for our customers and also to be in a position to increase the range of innovative international roaming services such as data, 3G and prepaid, thanks to the Link2One partnership," he said.

Link2One, which includes 100 member operators, is among the largest international coverage open connectivity roaming hubs globally. The hub provides roaming access to more than 500 million mobile subscribers.

"The addition of the Link2One hub adds even more value for Batelco's roaming customers who already benefit from unique services such as Batelco's World Freedom, which facilitates free incoming calls and SMS's in 21 countries, and Unified Data Roaming, which offers a low rate of only 600 fils per megabyte for data roaming in all GCC states and a number of major Arab countries," concluded Mr. Rieder.
