The Federal Electricity and Water Authority (FEWA) announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with du as a first step to jointly discuss various avenues of mutual cooperation.
This MoU includes discussion on access to FEWA’s extensive dark fibre network and exploring services that enable bill payment via du lines, as well as looking into the possibility of providing FEWA and its employees with advanced communication services, such as mobile, broadband and other phone services.
The MoU was signed by Mohammed Mohammed Saleh, General Manager, Federal Electricity & Water Authority (FEWA), and Osman Sultan, CEO of du, in the presence of other dignitaries.
Both FEWA and du agreed to review the development and application of the agreement on a regular basis to ensure the common benefits for all concerned.
Commenting on this partnership, Mohammed Mohammed Saleh, General Manager, Federal Electricity & Water Authority (FEWA), said: “This step comes as part of FEWA’s efforts to develop and facilitate the payment process for its customers. The move also supports the fruitful and strategic cooperation between the government and various business sectors for the benefit of all.”
Expressing his views, Osman Sultan, CEO, du, said: “We believe that increased cooperation between the private and public sectors is the way forward. Infrastructure such as dark fibres is a great asset for the nation and the partnership with FEWA will enable its further optimal utilisation and rationalise costs.
We are looking forward to working with Federal Electricity and Water Authority and we believe that it will be a strong partnership, enabling us to expand our landline network by gaining access to the FEWA dark fibre network,”
