Gulf To Upgrade Military Communications Capabilities As Middle East Spend Set To Top USD100 Billion By 2014

Published Feb 1, 2010

Several Gulf Cooperation Council states plan to enhance their Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C4iSR) capabilities in response to evolving regional security requirements.

The 2nd edition of Gulf C4iSR, the leading military communications conference and exhibition in the Gulf, will showcase the latest C4iSR technologies, trends and issues affecting the Gulf during its latest edition running from February 1 to 3, 2010 at the Armed Officers Club in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

Hosted annually by the UAE Armed Forces, the 2010 conference will feature a new format which will include roundtables by senior UAE military and interactive C4iSR workshops. More than 120 senior officers from the UAE Land, Sea and Air forces will discuss the conference themes of joint force interoperability, information security, and transformation to network-centric capabilities with regional and international defence specialists and officials.

Injazat Defence Services, a Silver Sponsor of Gulf C4iSR 2010, has invited Consultant Matthew Sleap from HP Enterprise Services and Security Consultancy Group, UK, to deliver a presentation titled ‘Effective Information Management To Create a Clear Joint Operational Picture’ during the event.

“Today’s global political and economic shifts require a rethinking of the Gulf’s defense strategies and greater emphasis on military communications capabilities. Defense spending in the whole Middle East is expected to exceed USD100 billion by 2014; a significant portion of this should be spent on C4iSR technologies and services to support a more strategic, information-based approach to national security. Gulf C4iSR provides a reputable platform for the world’s top defense experts to discuss important directions that the region should take to ensure prolonged peace,” said Philip Keating, Business Relations Manager, Injazat Defence Services.

Injazat Defence Services, one of the leading defence business and information technology services providers in the Middle East, will highlight its diverse portfolio of defence consultancy, communications and infrastructure, battlespace and secure government, personnel and training administration, and logistics services.

The company is a subsidiary of Injazat Data Systems, a joint venture between Mubadala Development Co. and HP. Injazat Data Systems holds more than 50 per cent of the UAE’s IT outsourcing market and owns the Middle East’s first and only Tier IV design-certified data centre.
