AASTRA MX-One Goes A Step Further To Meet CIOs Imperatives

Published Feb 3, 2010

Aastra, a leading company at the forefront of the enterprise communication market, unveiled significant enhancements to its MX-ONETM call control manager for medium and large enterprises with its new release 4.0. As reducing enterprise costs and improving the workforce effectiveness remain high on the CIO agenda, the MX-ONE aims to lower the total cost of ownership (TCO), and it also comes with a complete suite of unified communications (UC) solutions to improve efficiency and productivity in the workspace.

“With the transition from recession to recovery, Gartner's annual CIO survey in January 2010 indicated business expectations for IT call for greater productivity and continued cost-efficiencies. UC is key to supporting such imperatives.

Medium and large businesses should be looking how their communication solutions can contribute towards these objectives and support a budget savvy adoption of unified communications for better collaboration inside the company as well as communication with customers.” commented Steve Blood, Research Vice President at Gartner

To meet the customer’s specific requirements, the MX-ONE can be customized and complemented by Aastra’s comprehensive portfolio of UC solutions, ranging from multi-media contact centre and unified messaging, to collaboration and conferencing. With an increasingly mobile workforce and environmental concerns encouraging teleworking, the MX-ONE can ensure the seamless integration of mobility with enterprise communications. Campus workers can benefit from highly scalable SIP DECT and, thanks to fixed mobile convergence (FMC), remote workers can enjoy a similar user experience on their mobile as a desk phone with the Aastra Mobile Client. The combination of Aastra’s UC applications and true mobility solutions helps staff to be more productive and reactive to customer demands.

Furthermore, the MX-ONE can also allow customers better integration for their existing UC applications thanks to the introduction of industry standards such as CSTA V3 and XML to smoothly integrate with third party UC providers.

“Thanks to its R&D internal synergies, Aastra has significantly increased its innovation capabilities for products such as the MX-ONE resulting in significant improvements for both existing and new customers. New customers can benefit from strong UC and highly competitive enterprise communications solutions whilst existing customers can be assured of a unique migration strategy with investment protection and simpler and faster upgrades.

The latest version of the MX-ONE is capable of delivering market-leading scalability, TCO and power savings as well as a comprehensive unified communications suite to meet such imperatives.” said Edin Hadzialic, Head of the Centre of Excellence for MX-ONE and FMC.

Flexibility and scalability are high on the agenda for this major release of the MX-ONE:

• Customers now have a choice of architecture with the MX-ONE, distributed or centralized, over one site or several sites spanning multiple countries. For better operation and maintenance, Aastra has also improved the management experience with an updated and user-friendly graphical interface to make the control of any system components and applications faster and more efficient

• With improved redundancy features, the MX-ONE also delivers best in class scalability with a single server accommodating up to 15,000 users and 15 media gateways. Up to 124 servers can be combined on a single system, offering businesses the opportunity to scale up to 500,000 users on a single system. Two new IP desk phones and the expanded numbering plan are other features that come in the new version.

• A new modular Media Gateway ‘MX-ONE Lite’ combined with MX-ONE high-class networking capabilities introduces more flexibility for branch office scenarios and decreases the overall TCO for such deployments.

Aastra is the first vendor to have its enterprise IP telephony unified communications products certified with the HP ProCurve ONE Service zl Module in order to offer a comprehensive UC solution.

Aastra was keen with this new release to improve the competitiveness of the MX-ONE even further and to offer a lower TCO with more energy efficient components. This latest version of the MX-ONE meets both budget and environmental imperatives facing the CIOs of today. Customers can also benefit from lower communications costs with SIP trunking, as well as savings on mobile roaming cost with the Dynamic Least Cost Routing of the Aastra Mobile Client.

“The MX-ONE release 4.0 will be available in the Middle East during the second quarter of 2010”, confirms Marcus Junthé, Head of Product Management & Support at Aastra Telecom Middle East.
