Brother Gulf, a global leader in the development and manufacturing of printing, communication and digital imaging products for homes, SOHOs and enterprises, has reported a 15 per cent growth in its ‘P-touch’ Electronic Stationery business in the UAE for 2009, underlining the stable demand for the manufacturer’s labelling printers amidst the downturn. The company has also recently hosted a dealer’s meeting at the Sheraton Dubai Creek Hotel & Towers, along with its UAE distributor ALMOE Digital Solutions to introduce the new labelling machines and award top performing dealers. All 15 local ‘P-touch’ dealers attended the event, which also witnessed the launch of the latest ‘P-touch’ models – PT-2700AR, PT-90, PT-1090 and PT-1290.
The only model in the market with Arabic, English and Persian interface and keyboard, the PC-connectable PT-2700AR is the latest model in Brother’s electronic label printer line-up. It can print up to seven lines, support nine types of barcodes and feature a total of six fonts, 11 type styles, 22 frame styles and 123 symbols. In addition to showcasing the new product, Brother also announced the top three performers among its UAE dealers in 2009, who received awards from the manufacturer.
“While many companies are expecting 2010 to be flat with minimal prospects for growth, we in Brother are anticipating increased activity in our label printer business on account of the recent launch of our new products, specially the one that can print in both Arabic and Farsi,” said Shinji Tada, Managing Director, Brother Gulf. “This unique product opened up a new segment in our label printer line up by catering to the specific needs of businesses and users within the Middle East region.
The dealer’s meet was aimed at further growing our electronic stationery business by engaging our partners in a more proactive value added program, and also served as a venue for us to recognise their significant contributions to the growth of ‘P-touch’ by rewarding them for their excellent work.”
With a QWERTY keyboard, the PT-90 uses 9mm and 12mm M tape, features eight kinds of new tape decorations, incorporates a manual cutter and label frames. On the other hand, the more advanced PT-1090 boasts of an ABC keyboard, 12 new tape decorations modes and time and date function, while the PT-1290 sports a QWERTY keyboard, 15 new tape decorations modes, mirror printing, numbering function and two fonts. Both models use 6mm, 9mm and 12mm TZ laminated tape, has manual cutter and label frames. Three more products – the PT-1830VP (desktop model), the PT-2430PC (‘plug & print’ PC model), and the QL model (QL-570) were also showcased during the event.
“We believe that the driving force behind the continuous growth of ‘P-touch’ is the exceptional features it offers across a wide range of markets – from home, small office, corporate and industrial.
We are always striving to enhance the features of our labelling machines through intensive product development, which is an effort that will help us maintain our leadership in this market,” concluded Tada.
