Nexans To Showcase Best-In-Class LAN Infrastructure Solutions At Cairo ICT 2010

Published Feb 7, 2010

Nexans, the worldwide leader in cables and cabling systems, announced that they, along with their local distributor in Egypt - Messrs: UBC for Integrated Systems, are participating in the 14th edition of Cairo ICT, which is scheduled to take place from February 7th – 10th, 2010 at the Cairo International Conference Center, Nasr City, Cairo, Egypt.

The leading technology exhibition will be a platform for Nexans to showcase their best-in-class cabling solutions and further demonstrate their commitment to the Egypt market where they have made strong strides in the past few years. Nexans will also be celebrating ten years of business partnership with UBC.

“Our participation in Cairo ICT 2010 along with our distributor - UBC, is an outcome of the mutual business success we have achieved in the Egypt market during 2009 as well as a celebration of one decade of business partnership. This strategic long-term relationship has resulted in positioning us among the top players in the LAN infrastructure market in Egypt today. This is our first participation at Cairo ICT and we have high expectations from our presence at this event following the excellent reputation and success rate of its previous editions,” says Mr. Tarek Helmy, Regional Director Gulf and Middle East of Nexans Cabling Solutions.

Nexans offers a wide range of solutions that fit the customers’ present and future needs. The company will be showcasing its revolutionary concepts in copper cabling technology – the LANmark-6A and -7A range, its full range of fibre optic cables & connectivity range - LANmark – OF, and its Intelligent Infrastructure solution for LAN installations - LANsense. The company will place a special focus on LANmark 7A, which is the first category 7A available in the market to support 40Gbps bandwidth and save energy on 10G Ethernet.

Nexans has identified the Middle East and Egypt in particular, as a fast growing region in the IT business and subsequently the LAN infrastructure. Egypt is also recognized as one of the few markets within the Middle East that has its own highly qualified resources in the IT and Telecom industry. Nexans is also ensuring knowledge transfer in the market in a timely fashion through continuous training sessions and seminars.

“The Egypt economy is among the least affected in the current global market recession scenario. Egypt has been developing its LAN infrastructure at a fast pace where Nexans has been a leading supplier for several of these projects. Among our many successes, the Nile University project in 2009 was one of the first deployments in Egypt of the Category 6A along with the Intelligent Management Solution.

Cairo ICT 2010 is an ideal forum for us to promote our LAN Infrastructure solutions and share our global and regional success stories with our customers and partners as well as announce our plans for 2010,” Mr. Helmy adds.

Nexans also believes that Egypt ICT sector is set for further growth in 2010 with proactive decision making to facilitate technology deployments. The licenses granted by NTRA (National Telecom Regulatory Authority) of Egypt to build and operate FTTx networks (Triple Play) in closed compound is a major step towards developing the IT infrastructure particularly in “green fields” (new residential areas).

As the leader in Egypt’s LAN cabling market, Nexans is well poised in 2010 to further consolidate on the gains made in the past few years of its partnership with UBC. Senior management from Nexans and UBC will be available at their stand 3C4, Hall 3 at Cairo ICT 2010 to meet with existing and potential customers and partners.
