TANDBERG Expands Award-Winning C Series Codec Platform With New C40

Published Feb 7, 2010

TANDBERG announced it added the new Codec C40 to its industry-leading C Series codec platform to allow even greater scale for high-definition video deployments. Based on the award-winning TANDBERG C90, the most advanced telepresence and collaboration codec on the market, the C40 is designed to meet the needs of organisations of all sizes and broaden access to high-quality video conferencing and telepresence from any meeting space.

Ira Weinstein, analyst and partner at Wainhouse Research, said: “Many organisations are pursuing a tiered approach to video conferencing, using a combination of immersive telepresence suites, HD video conferencing systems and unified communications solutions. The C40 fits nicely into this approach by offering an affordable, standards-compliant solution that can be integrated into any conference room or meeting space and increase accessibility to existing suites and endpoints.”

The C40 reflects TANDBERG’s commitment to making business-quality video available to everyone by offering up to 1080p resolution, MultiSite capability, multiple microphones and audio inputs, and a full set of advanced APIs to meet the needs of integrators, all at a competitive price point. Furthermore, TANDBERG is the only vendor that supports individual transcoded MultiSite capability, which preserves video quality for all participants, unlike other systems that downgrade all call participants to the lowest common denominator.

“In the modern workplace, video conferencing and telepresence deliver the greatest benefits when they are accessible to every employee,” said Munzer Aloush, TANDBERG Regional Manger: Gulf & Iraq.

“However, we recognise companies want to make the best use of their investments in technology. This is why TANDBERG continues to develop interoperable HD solutions like the C40, to assist seamless accessibility among employees within organisations, as well as enhance interoperability between different companies, regardless of their size. We want our customers to be able to optimise their resources by having the greatest flexibility and the highest quality experience possible, but without making their existing systems obsolete.”

With the addition of the C40, the TANDBERG C Series now includes four Codecs designed to meet a range of needs. The C Series is also fully interoperable with any standards-based video conferencing or telepresence system, and unified communications platforms such as Microsoft Office Communicator.
