Zain KSA And Ericsson Sign Agreement To Provide 4G/LTE Network In Saudi Arabia

Zain KSA signed the agreement with Ericsson, the world's leading provider of telecommunication services and equipment to operators, at a ceremony in the company's headquarters in Riyadh. The agreement involves the completion of stage one of the deployment of the next generation of mobile phone technology (LTE) that will cover four main cities in the kingdom - Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam and Al Khubar.
Eng. Ismaeel Fikri, Chief of operation at Zain KSA said, "This agreement symbolizes a landmark project for deploying 4G/LTE network. Such technology represents a revolution in the mobile telecom industry around the world."
Eng. Fikri added that the LTE technology is considered the next step in broadband services. It is designed to transfer huge amounts of data in a cost and energy efficient manner. This technology which offers ultra high speeds supports multimedia applications such as video conference, HD content, video blogs and downloaded video. With LTE, Zain KSA customers will enjoy unparalleled broadband experience in addition to many other services in speeds that reach up to 150 mbyts.
Jerry from Ericsson, said, "We are honored to be chosen by Zain to be part of this evolutionary project, which will once again prove Ericsson's strong and leading position at the telecommunication edge." He added, "The partnership with Zain will be a milestone of strategic importance for the growth of the next generation technology in the Middle East. The 4G/LTE will enable "Zain KSA" customers to use internet (broadband) advanced services, such as sending and receiving files and videos, online games and many other services in high speeds. These services will, in turn, guarantee Zain's customers a unique and exceptional experience through new and innovative offerings.
