Edutech Partners With Quanser To Bring Advanced Control Solutions To The GCC

Published Feb 23, 2010

Edutech, a leading provider of educational solutions and services, announced its partnership with Quanser Consulting Inc, the world leader in education and research-based systems for real-time control design, at the ‘Global Educational Supplies & Solutions (GESS) 2010’. This involves Edutech’s assumption of its role as the new exclusive distributor for Quanser’s wide range of control software, hardware and turnkey solutions designed to assist engineering students and researchers in the region studying electrical, mechanical, mechatronics, aerospace, industrial and other engineering fields. With aims to provide an excellent platform for the new breed of advanced control solutions for the GCC region, ‘GESS 2010’ is being held at the Airport Expo in Dubai until February 25, 2010.

As a regional partner, Edutech will utilise its comprehensive regional base to distribute Quanser’s more than 80 open-architecture control solutions for teaching and research. Quanser’s cutting-edge workstations include comprehensive curriculum to help teach introductory, intermediate and advanced-level controls. Used in more than 50 countries around the world, the range of equipment includes experimental and research platforms for a wide range of mechatronic, robotic and control related applications. The move marks Quanser’s foray into the region amidst the growing need for effective technological training across the GCC.

“We are happy to bring the most advanced control solutions to further assist universities and young industry talent in control engineering and engineering education in the GCC region,” said Senthil Kugan, Head of Science and Technology Solutions, Edutech. “This partnership will help us in our mission to provide the best equipment and solutions to the region’s students and enable them to take up successful careers in engineering technology.”

Quanser is recognised as the world’s leading developer of experiments and curriculum for teaching dynamics and control systems design hands-on and enabling innovative research in the areas of control, robotics and mechatronics. Their distinctively modular control systems allow to cost-effectively employ the same power plant to perform experiments of varying complexity and are fully compatible with popular engineering software tools including LabVIEW®, MATLAB®, Simulink® and MapleSoft.

“As the region witnesses continuous demand for solutions to enhance learning methods in the areas of electrical, mechanical, mechatronics, aerospace and industrial technology, we are ready to bridge the gap between industry and academia by facilitating greater advancements in the development and implementation of leading edge control systems,” said Keith Blanchet, Director of Business Development, Quanser. “We are very excited to be working with Edutech in our expansion to the regional market, and we are confident that their expertise will provide a significant boost to our aims to penetrate the GCC.”

Founded in 1989 and headquartered in Canada, Quanser’s team consists of engineers from a cross-section of engineering disciplines who specialize in controls, robotics and mechatronics. The open-architecture control solutions they develop are ideal for implementing and evaluating strategies from the simple to the extremely complex. Quanser software, control solutions and challenges are used by more than 2,000 clients worldwide including universities, research laboratories and commercial organisations.
