Canon Production Scanners Recognised By BLI For Outstanding Value And Usability

Published Feb 28, 2010

Canon, world leader in imaging solutions, has been recognised by Buyers Laboratory Inc. (BLI) with two “Outstanding Achievement Awards” for its Canon imageFORMULA DR-9050C & DR-6050C production scanners.

Launched in April 2009, the A3 production scanners were designed by Canon to incorporate higher scanning speeds, energy efficiency and an improved ergonomic design, with the aim of boosting workplace productivity.

The world’s leading independent evaluator has presented the Canon imageFORMULA DR-9050C with the Fall 2009 scanner “Outstanding Achievement” award for its high-quality features and outstanding value:

- Excellent software functionality with the built-in Canon CapturePerfect, simple set-up, easy-to-use hardware and a huge range of one-touch scan profiles from the control panel.

- Unlike the higher-priced competition, the scanner offers a production-level scan speed for a price that is markedly lower than the average of scanners in its productivity range.

BLI Test Technician Joe Ellerman said, “Despite its lower price, it doesn't skimp on image enhancing features. It offers more than you'd expect, including automatic colour detection, two text enhancement functions, moiré reduction, reverse image, binder-hole removal and custom colour drop-out.”

A second award was given for the Canon imageFORMULA DR-6050C due to its exceptional reliability:

- The organisation noted the scanner’s simple setup procedures, easy-to-use software and better than average productivity, as being outstanding.

- A broader range of image processing features than typical low-volume production scanners and file size at a significantly lower than average price were also contributing factors.

“The Canon imageFORMULA DR-6050C provides a complete package for virtually any user, with an easy-to-use control panel and the fastest tested scan speeds of production scanners in its speed range”, said Ellerman.

Vishal Gohel, Product Manager, Canon Middle East commented: “Organisations are recognising the benefits that effective document scanning can offer for heightened efficiency and worker productivity. With this in mind, Canon successfully launched a whole range of reliable scanning devices that combine rapid scanning speeds with high-quality detection and image capture, to ensure companies can work towards digitalising important documents as efficiently as possible.”

Gohel added, “Being recognised by BLI for the high-quality and reliability of the Canon imageFORMULA DR-9050C and imageFORMULA DR-6050C shows the strength of our scanning portfolio. In such a fast-growing market where organisations look to achieve higher performance scanning at a lower cost, Canon has succeeded in presenting a range of attractive scanning options that meet our customers’ needs.”
