Nawras Bowling Championship Gets Underway With Record Number Of Competitors

Published Mar 1, 2010

Nawras bowling championship is well underway at Muscat’s Al Masa Mall where more than 250 participants are already enjoying the sporting challenge. For the first time, the competition has been split into two groups to enable ladies to play against ladies and the men to compete in a separate group.

Competition is fierce and numbers greater than ever before as bowling fans get closer in their bid to secure one of the coveted places in the finals next month that comes with the exciting opportunity to win valuable prizes. Anyone still wishing to enter is welcome to do so. More information is available from the Al Masa bowling centre or Nawras website at www.nawras.om.

Hussein Al Fadhill, Nawras corporate affairs team leader, said, “The last championship during the Holy Month of Ramadhan was a big success and this time we expect an even greater response as many people are already showing great interest in this exciting event.”

Each player takes part in a minimum of three rounds to select their top scores for entering into the championship. Once accepted, every entrant has the option to replace his or her turn with a higher score up until the closing date of 16th April. Trials are taking place from Saturday to Tuesday from 10:00am until 2:00pm and 5:00pm until 12:00 midnight.

Group A consists of the ladies and group B is the men. The best 36 players from each group in the trial rounds will move up to the first round after which all games will be played for free. The top 32 players from the first round will move up to the second, with the final eight ladies and eight men being selected to battle it out to compete for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions in each group on 21 April 2010.

The winners of each group will be going home with enticing prizes including the first prize of a BlackBerry together with both a Nawras Ajel and Nawras Mousbak SIM card and free credit. The second prize winner will receive an internet router with Nawras Ajel and Nawras Mousbak SIM cards with free credit and the third prize winner will receive an IPod as well as a Nawras Mousbak SIM card with credit.

The pleasingly different Nawras Bowling Championship is already shaping up to be even more popular than previous bowling events staged by the Sultanate’s customer friendly communications provider. With more participants taking part this time than ever before, the players can expect to participate in a great competition and the growing number of spectators can look forward to witnessing some fantastic performances.

Nawras sponsors a variety of sporting events for the community and most recently these have ranged from cricket to cycling and bowling to basketball.
