Queen Rania School Attends Worldwide Innovative Education Forum In Brazil As Part Of Microsoft Innovative Schools Program

Published Mar 3, 2010

The Queen Rania School attended the 5th Annual Worldwide Innovative Education Forum that was held last month in Brazil after having been recognized, as part of the Microsoft Partners in Learning Innovative Schools Program, for demonstrating strong school leadership and innovation in learning.

The Queen Rania School was selected by Microsoft’s program as one of 30 Pathfinder schools from 110 schools that applied to take part in the Forum, which provides teachers from all around the world with the opportunity to collaborate with their peers and discuss best practices for improving teaching and helping students to learn. Pathfinder schools are those that have demonstrated strong school leadership with a proven track record of innovation and successful change implementation.

Rula Ammuri, Microsoft Jordan Country Manager stated, “The Microsoft Partners in Learning Innovative Schools program works with schools from around the world to break down barriers to learning and achieve meaningful change in their communities. We are proud that the Queen Rania School has significantly benefited from the program by being one of a few select schools to attend the forum. We will continue to help the Queen Rania School build on its potential to transform education and help prepare them for success in our rapidly changing, connected world.”

Haif Bannayan, CEO of the Jordan Education Initiative and WW PiL board member stated, "We are excited at this opportunity of having one of our leading Discovery Schools selected as one of only 30 Pathfinder schools chosen after a rigorous and transparent evaluation process. The JEI intends to work with the Queen Rania School to assist them in gaining the maximum out of participating in this forum and Microsoft's Innovative Schools Program. On a personal note, attending the Innovative Education Forum and acting as a judge, assessing some of the wonderful innovations of some of the world’s best teachers was a very enriching experience that I am proud to have been part of."

Etedal Alradydeh, Principle of the Queen Rania School, stated, “The Innovative Education Forum was a very rich experience for all of us. It provided us with the opportunity to interact, collaborate and share our experiences with peers from all over the world and we were incredibly proud and honored to have been selected from over 110 other schools. We look forward to working closely with JEI, Microsoft and the Mentor schools in order to implement the changes we envision and hopefully in the future we will be able to share our achievements with others and develop models that other schools can follow.”

During the forum, the Pathfinder Schools worked with 12 Mentor Schools for assistance in implementing the changes in their respective schools. The Mentor Schools are those which have already achieved a level of change within their education systems, and are viewed as leaders in their countries and regions for having introduced innovations to teaching that can be applied and replicated by other schools around the world.

The Pathfinder and Mentor schools are part of Microsoft’s Innovative Schools program, which has been designed to help school leaders become change agents within their school communities by providing them with the tools and resources they need to successfully envision and implement educational transformation.

In addition to the Queen Rania School, a total of 5 Pathfinder Schools and 2 Mentor Schools were selected from the Middle East and Africa region for having a vision for learning and for implementing change that will improve teaching practices and education.
