Gartner Names NETGEAR As the Global Leader In Business Network-Attached Storage (NAS) Systems Provider

Published Jun 23, 2009
NETGEAR, a worldwide provider of technologically advanced, branded networking and storage products, has been named by Gartner, the world's leading technology research and advisory firm, as a worldwide leader in business Network-Attached Storage (NAS) systems.

In Gartner’s ‘Market Share: Network Attached Storage/Unified Storage, Worldwide, 2009’ report released recently, NETGEAR has emerged as among the top six vendors in business NAS market across the globe, following an examination of the company’s total revenues and units shipped in 2008.

Gartner estimated that the company has taken 23 percent of the market share in terms of revenues for vendors with solutions priced at less than USD 5,000; while among vendors with solutions priced at less than USD 25,000, it has ranked third with a revenue growth rate in excess of 127 percent.

NETGEAR also consistently ranked high among other NAS/unified storage solution vendors in terms of end-of-year results between 2008 and 2007.

Gartner added that the networking and storage solutions provider outpaced traditionally strong storage competitors when comparing revenues across all major NAS vendors.

"We believe Gartner's evaluation will surely give confidence to the customers and the channel partners to invest in NETGEAR storage products," said Ahmad Zeidan, Channel Sales Manager, NETGEAR Middle East.

"More importantly, we feel this report recognises the strength and quality of the ReadyNAS line of storage appliances.

Today, storage is an integrated part of the networks, and we are proud that we have been successful in providing SMB customers and channel partners with the most advanced and reliable, networking and storage platforms in the industry."

NETGEAR storage systems store, share and protect data for home or business users, providing users with an effective way to centralise files, share them between computers and even automatically back up to an offsite location.

Among its most popular offerings include the ‘ReadyNAS’ storage products, which have received high acclaim since their introduction to the market.

As a testament to its impact on the users, the ‘ReadyNAS’ range has bagged several accolades, including CRN's 2008 ‘Best Product of the Year’; and Small Business Computing's 2009 ‘Excellence in Technology’ award.

“Gartner's assessment of our standing in the global market underlines our continuous growth amidst the drag of the economic slowdown.

We plan to leverage our current standing in worldwide market, which is aptly represented by our equally robust operations in the region, to further serve the needs of our SMB customers and provide extensive support for our channel partners across the Middle East,” concluded Zeidan.
