Thuraya Launches “Comms On The Move” At Satellite 2010

Published Mar 18, 2010

To further extend usage of its high-speed data solution, “Thuraya IP” for key market segments, Thuraya has introduced a new antenna solution allowing efficient usage of data communications in moving vehicles.

“Comms on the Move” is a very compact and light-weight antenna, which can easily be roof-mounted on any vehicle. It is a two-axis antenna which efficiently allows 444 kbps Standard IP and 384 kbps Streaming IP services while vehicles move even at high speeds.

The Thuraya IP “Comms on the Move” antenna is the smallest in the industry to accomplish high speed connectivity and one of Thuraya’s key solutions and products on display at Satellite 2010 which is currently taking place in Washington.

Thuraya’s Executive Manager Product Management, Mr. David Moss said, “The solution is aimed at meeting the dynamic requirements of our vertical customers in the defense, broadcast media, NGOs, large corporates and government sectors.”

He added that the product has been tested at very high speeds, and it has consistently proved a highly reliable performance.

“Customers can stream up to 384 Kbps without having the trouble of using a large antenna,” he explained.

“The advantage of Thuraya IP “Comms on the Move” is that it allows customers the freedom of movement in any terrain and always be connected to the Thuraya satellite. Thuraya IP “Comms on the Move’ is a practical solution for high-speed broadband users who need to go off-road or to remote areas and need portable, mobile services,” said Mr. Moss.
