Kenyan Operators To Focus On Data Services & High Speed Broadband At East Africa Com

With voice services reaching saturation, East African operators are naturally turning their focus to provide more data services to subscribers, and with the submarine cable SEACOM having landed last year there’s more capacity to play with, and for the lowest prices yet. Investing in infrastructure will continue to be a priority as operators seek to enhance mobile data transmission across East African markets.
Sharing and debating best practice strategies to drive the growth of data services in East Africa’s telecommunications markets will be a key focus at the East Africa Com 2010 Conference, and leading East African operators - including Kenya’s Safaricom, Zain, Orange Telkom Kenya, and others - will meet next month for this purpose at Nairobi’s Kenyatta International Conference Centre. Zain Kenya went further in expanding international roaming coverage for data services. This investment and activity is testament to the importance of data services to operators in the region, and with a huge boost in capacity due as a result of submarine cables landing, it will be a scramble between operators to be role out high speed networks which will deliver quality and affordable services to customers.
