Sonicwall Announces Its Security Virtual Appliance Portfolio At RSA Conference 2010

Published Mar 25, 2010

SonicWall, a leading secure network infrastructure company, announced at RSA Conference 2010, its Security Virtual Appliance portfolio. The company announced that the first two Security Virtual Appliances (SonicWall Global Management System Virtual Appliance and ViewPoint Virtual Appliance) are available immediately. The company expects to ship its Enterprise-class anti-spam Email Security Virtual Appliance later this quarter.

Additional Security Virtual Appliances will ship in future quarters. As Enterprises continue to consolidate IT assets and to take advantage of cloud-based computing to drive down costs, they are accelerating the deployment of solutions as Virtual Platforms. SonicWall's release of multiple security-focused Virtual Appliances gives enterprises more flexibility while improving security and productivity of their corporate network.

"Delivering key security and productivity solutions as Virtual Appliances is required for enterprises to take advantage of equipment optimization, lower costs, utilization of data center capacities and cloud infrastructures," said Patrick Sweeney, vice president of Product Management at SonicWall. " the announcement enables mid and large enterprises to exploit scalable security solutions in virtualized environments. Our extensive VAR channel can now 'be the cloud' and deliver security focused virtualized solutions to businesses of all sizes. We see this as a win for large and small companies alike."

- SonicWall Global Management System (GMS) & ViewPoint Virtual Appliances:

The GMS Virtual Appliance is based on SonicWall GMS version 6.0 announced earlier this year. The solution provides enterprises and managed service providers (MSPs) with a flexible, powerful and intuitive solution to centrally manage and rapidly deploy all of their SonicWall firewall, anti-spam, backup and recovery, and secure remote access solutions. Enterprises and MSPs use SonicWall GMS to manage thousands of appliances simultaneously and to centrally create and deploy security policies, provide real-time monitoring and alerting functionality and to deliver intuitive compliance and usage reports from a single management interface. The ViewPoint Virtual Appliance provides granular reporting on one or more SonicWall security devices, allowing administrators to closely track network utilization, monitor security activity and view Web usage.

- Dynamic Security for the Global Network:

To help customers cope with rapidly evolving and continuously changing threats, SonicWall is committed to its vision of Dynamic Security for the Global Network, in which security solutions dynamically adapt to the continuously shifting threats and easily adjust to new technologies or business demands.

SonicWall also announced the launch of its NSA E8500 and its vision of Dynamic Security for the Global Network, further strengthening its enterprise portfolio and presence.
