Nawras Finance Officer Is Skilful Driver In Rally Of Oman

Finance officer Rashid Bin Faqeer Bin Mohammed Al-Balushi is not only a talented member of the Nawras family but also a highly skilful rally driver as he recently conclusively demonstrated in his first official rally participation. Nawras supported Rashid’s entry in the Rally of Oman earlier this month and his colleagues proudly applauded when he went on to astound everyone by clinching seventh place out of the strong field of 14 contestants.
On the big day, Rashid was excited and naturally slightly nervous as he took his place amongst the seasoned competitors for the start of the race. The line-up included professional drivers as well as a few of the Sultanate’s experienced ex-champions of this fast-paced sport.
Rashid’s outstanding driving skills soon drew attention as he showed excellent control of his 2006 Subaru WRX STI rally car in all stages of the race which was characterized by very rugged and bumpy ground with sharp turns. He managed to reach the finish line, which in itself is considered to be quite an achievement bearing in mind this was his first official rally participation, and impressively he took 7th place.
In the final stage of the rally, Rashid was very close to securing an even better position when he suddenly encountered an unfortunate mechanical failure in the rear suspension system of his car which forced him to reduce speed for few minutes in order to complete the race at a slower pace.
“Driving is my passion,” he said after the race. “I am really pleased with my performance particularly as this was my first rally and I don’t think anyone expected me to finish let alone achieve 7th place. I think it really helps to work with a winning team at Nawras and to spend so much time in a successful environment. I am used to positive thinking and I can’t wait to compete in the next race.”
Rashid began his driving career as a child. He started with a motorbike and gradually worked on his skills to progress to cars and now he has achieved his dream of entering a rally.
By day, Rashid is part of the finance team at Nawras, helping customers with their questions on bill payment.
