With the new Formula 1 season now well underway, the Renault F1 Team has once again called in Symantec to help with its behind-the-scenes race strategy to improve overall efficiency and responsiveness by creating the best IT infrastructure possible. For over a decade, the Renault F1 Team has leveraged a series of data security, availability, and systems management solutions from Symantec.
“Whether it’s design, telemetry, or manufacturing, we need to ensure high availability, data security, and implicit management of our sophisticated IT network infrastructure. With the very short space of time between races, outages, security alerts, and other unplanned downtime are simply not permissible,” comments Graeme Hackland, CIO for the Renault F1 Team.
The Renault F1 Team is realising significant business value from its numerous Symantec technology deployments. A recent analysis pinpointed the following areas where business value has been realised:
- Data backup and recovery labour savings and tape media savings.
- Email storage cost savings and IT productivity gains.
- Spam email storage cost avoidance and end-user productivity gains.
- Hardware and maintenance cost savings and labour cost avoidance.
- IT productivity savings from issue resolution.
- Energy savings related to server and storage hardware.
Additionally, the Renault F1 Team leverages Symantec Business Critical Services as a strategic advisor for technology upgrades and refreshes.
“Symantec Business Critical Services are part of my IT group. It is a very tightly coupled relationship. Whenever we consider new IT initiatives, we bring those to Symantec Business Critical Services for their guidance, helping ensure there are no unexpected issues,” concludes Hackland.
