du Wins 2 Prestigious Awards At Cisco Networkers 2010

Reinforcing its position as the region’s most innovative telecom provider, du took home two prestigious awards during Cisco Networkers 2010 in Bahrain, a global event held for the first time in the Middle East. The company was honoured as ‘The Most Innovative Service Provider: Service Offering of the year’, in recognition of its IP-based core network upgrade to 40 Gbps, and ‘The Most Innovative Mobility Project’ for its work on the Dubai Metro project.

du received the award for ‘The Most Innovative Service Provider: Service Offering of the year’ during the ceremony – held at the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC), from 28 to 31 March 2010–for the du IP-based core network upgrade project. du invested AED 100 Million to upgrade its network infrastructure, building the fastest network capacity speed in the Middle East of 40 Gbps, which has enabled the company to offer unprecedented services.

du also received the award for ‘The Most Innovative Mobility Project’ in honour of du’s Dubai Metro WiFi project. du’s next-generation WiFi service on the new Dubai Metro line, in partnership with RTA, offers on-the-move seamless wireless internet connectivity for passengers on the trains and in the stations for the first time in the UAE.

Samer Geissah, Vice President, Core Network, du, Yasir Al Behzad, Director, IP Transport, and Samir Said, Senior Manager, Project Control, du, attended the ceremony and received the awards on behalf of du.

Developed in collaboration with the government of Bahrain and with the support of Crown Prince His Highness Shaikh Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, Cisco Networkers is an industry-leading event specifically designed for IT, Networking and Communications professionals. The theme for Cisco Networkers 2010 was 'Knowledge is Power'.

During this event, attendees had the opportunity to build on their knowledge and skills through in-depth technical seminars, breakout sessions, demonstrations and hands-on training, providing insights into how to stay competitive in the current economic climate and bringing extra value to their business.
