du and Khalifa University of Science, Technology and Research (KUSTAR) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in an agreement that will open academic and professional opportunities for UAE national university students and du employees. This cooperation comes in line with the government strategy for Emiritisation and aims to give local students and employees the tools required to achieve a distinguished career path. Furthermore, the agreement comes as part of du’s plan to form strategic alliances with organisations for the benefit of its UAE national employees.
On du’s behalf, Fahad Al Hassawi, Chief Human Resources and Corporate Services Officer, signed the agreement at an official ceremony, along with Dr Arif Sultan Al Hammadi, KUSTAR’s Interim President.
As per the agreement, du will offer training opportunities for university students and give them the opportunity to carry out their final year projects with du, as well as creating shared programmes for postgraduate students to benefit from the du team’s significant expertise. du specialist employees will give lectures to students and staff at the university in all subjects related to du work.
du will also provide scholarships to undergraduate and postgraduate students, while Khalifa University will offer UAE national employees from du the opportunity to continue their higher educational studies on any of the available university courses, the details of which will be announced later on. Both parties will cooperate in anything related to the Research and Development Centre.
“We are proud of this partnership, especially as myself and many other top management from du graduated from Khalifa University, and have since then risen up the ranks to where we are now. Through this partnership, we will utilise the specialist expertise we have here at du to give UAE national students at the university what they require to build a distinguished career path. At the same time, we are looking to benefit from the unique academic expertise Khalifa University has to offer,” commented Hassawi.
“We are a young, fast-growing company and therefore we need capable UAE nationals who have the required skills to fill our available job positions,” he continued.
Dr Arif Sultan Al Hammadi said: “At Khalifa University, we offer programmes that complement du’s area of expertise, and some of our alumni have gone on to assume managerial positions at the company. This agreement will definitely strengthen both parties’ capabilities and add value to our nation’s students and future leaders, whilst contributing to the development of the UAE’s engineering industry.”
Under the company’s strategy to support the government’s Emiritisation efforts, du has tied up with many national academic organisations, as well as consciously employing qualified UAE nationals. du is always keen to interact with talented local students, who the company recognises as future managers of national organisations.
