LG Bloomin Marvellous Gift Green Initiative Starts Pot Plant Revolution

Published Apr 20, 2010

LG Electronics (LG), a global leader and technology innovator in mobile communications, has embarked on a month long campaign which endeavours to make homes and offices greener with the launch the new GD510 Cookie Pop, its new compact full touchscreen phone, with its ‘Gift Green’ campaign. Between Earth Hour and Earth Day, celebrated globally on the 27th March and 22nd April respectively, LG Electronics has been running the month-long ‘Gift Green’ whereby selected members of agencies, media houses, retailers, distributors and socialites have been gifted a ‘Kalanchoe Blossfeldiana’ plant pot and can in turn nominate their friends, family or colleagues to receive the gift. The initiative reflects the LG’s consistent drive towards greener technology and reinforces its commitment to creating a healthier environment.

“LG is a firm supporter of green initiatives such as Earth Day and Earth Hour, which are global sustainability movements and this is just a fun way to link LG’s new eco-friendly phone with a green initiative,” said Mr. H.S Paik President of LG Electronics Gulf FZE. “People who receive the pot plant can nominate a friend, relative, colleague, customer or whomever to receive a plant in return.”

Through this nomination process LG hopes to spread the message of conservation around the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and pushing the move greener technology. Each gifted plant comes with a factsheet leaflet on the solar energy green features of the GD510 and an e-mail address. The receiver of this can nominate two persons who they want LG to send the plant to by e-mailing their address details and thus keeping the chain of greenness going. Thus far, LG has successfully gifted 1,300 plants to individuals around the UAE with a further 2,503 being referred on by the recipients. In addition, between 21st and 22nd April this week, LG will be distributing free plants and information about the GD510 Cookie Pop’s green credentials at JBR Walk, Mirdif City Centre and Dubai Internet City giving passerby’s the chance to be part of the campaign.

The new GD510 Cookie Pop, LG’s new compact full touchscreen phone is an innovative green phone powered by a solar panel battery pack which allows customers to forgo regular chargers subsequently reducing individual’s energy consumption. This is in line with LG’s vision for cleaner products and dedication to producing more environmentally conscious products.

“LG has always been a forth runner in producing cleaners products, in fact for 2009 we have successfully reduced 2.1-million tons of greenhouse gas emissions in the first half of 2009 through greater energy efficiency and improved manufacturing processes,” continued Paik.
