Visitors of GITEX KSA 2010, the business-to-business networking and consumer information and communications technology (ICT) expo for Saudi Arabia which ran from April 25 to 29, 2010 at the Riyadh International Exhibition Centre, were highly impressed by the growth of niche markets in the KSA such as alternative energy solutions, GIS, fibre optics, and office technologies. Inaugurated by H.E. Eng. Mohamed Jamil Bin Ahmed Mulla, the Saudi Arabian Minister of Communications & IT, the 9th edition was attended by over 80,000 guests and more than 450 exhibitors from over 17 countries.
GITEX KSA 2010’s impressive attendance reflects the strong regional and international interest in the Saudi ICT market, which is expected to be worth around SAR 13.87 billion in 2010 and remain the largest in the Gulf. A diverse group of Arab and foreign investors, IT professionals, businessmen and government representatives commended the show’s comprehensive lineup of telecommunications, networking, PC hardware and software, multimedia, educational and digital entertainment solutions.
“This year GITEX KSA welcomed a more targeted and specialized batch of visitors. This enabled exhibitors to highlight key features of their products and services and also attracted attention to developments in several niche segments. The show has been maturing rapidly in line with the solid growth of the KSA’s ICT sector and the latest edition has provided a positive outlook on what we expect to be another excellent year for ICT locally and regionally,” said Mohammed Al Hussaini, Deputy General Manager, Riyadh Exhibitions Company.
GITEX KSA 2010 occupied over 15,000 square metres of exhibition space. Saudi Communications 2010, the 12th International Communications Exhibition, took place simultaneously with GITEX KSA at the Riyadh International Exhibition Centre. The biennial event focused on key business and investment opportunities across the Saudi telecommunications market and teamed up with GITEX KSA to provide a comprehensive ICT exhibition and networking platform.
Wael Mostafa Morgan, Events Unit Manager, Information Technology Industry Development Agency in Egypt, said: “Egypt had the largest national pavilion in GITEX KSA 2010, with 24 companies emphasizing our interest in the thriving Saudi ICT market, especially in the e-learning and e-content segments. This is our fifth national participation in the event and we always look forward to boosting the strong communication channels it provides to local and foreign companies, where an average of two of our companies each year eventually launch branches in Saudi Arabia after participating in GITEX KSA.”
“We have been joining GITEX KSA as a national delegation over the past five shows. This year 17 companies showcased the latest Taiwanese developments in interactive technology, internet solutions, process efficiency and environmentally friendly technology solutions. We look forward to coming back next year to capitalize on the continuous success of the show and the sustained growth of the local ICT market,” added Mike Tang, Project Manager of the Overseas Exhibition Section, Taiwan External Trade Development Council.
GITEX KSA 2010 / Saudi Communications 2010 was sponsored by the Saudi Telecom Company (STC) and organized by Riyadh Exhibitions Company, the leading events organizer in the Middle East.
