Amadeus Gulf Appoints New Managing Director

Amadeus, a global leader in technology and distribution solutions for the travel and tourism industry, has appointed Geert Boven as the managing director for Amadeus Gulf.
In his new position, he will provide strategic direction and oversee the growth and expansion of Amadeus’ operations in UAE, Oman and Bahrain. Geert will also be closely involved in strengthening alliances with Amadeus’ customers and partners in these markets.
Commenting on the appointment Antoine Medawar, Vice President, Amadeus MENA said, “Greet brings on board an extensive knowledge of the regional and global travel industry. Under his leadership we are confident of further expanding our presence in the Middle East as we continue to deliver consistent service and value to our partners. As the new Managing Director, we are confident that Geert will take the local operations to next level of success.”
Prior to this appointment Boven was the Executive Vice President, Customer Services and Airport Operations at Etihad Airways. Geert was instrumental in the development of Etihad since joining the company in 2005, working within commercial, services and airport operations. He has more than 30 years’ experience in aviation and travel, having held posts with KLM in Africa, Europe, the Far East and Southeast Asia and Martinair Holland before joining Etihad.
“I am excited about my new role and looking forward to working with the team. I started my career in the travel industry and have been closely associated with this sector for more than three decades now. I hope to use my past industry experience to help Amadeus grow and further establish itself as the preferred technology partner to the region’s travel service providers,” said Geert.
Amadeus Gulf, a joint venture between Amadeus IT Group and Etihad Airways offers solutions in four distinct categories – Distribution and Content, Sales and e-Commerce, Business Management and Services and Consulting.
Established in the UAE in 2002, Amadeus Gulf today has expanded to Bahrain and Oman with more than 50 employees spread across offices in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Manama and Muscat.
