Saudi Arabia Software Solutions Market Aims For 12 Percent Surge Through 2013

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s software solutions market, the largest in the Middle East, is expected to post 12 percent growth through 2013. The market was valued at USD 637 million in 2009, with a significant share coming from Business Process Excellence (BPE) solutions. The BPE segment is expected to grow exponentially over the next few years as the Kingdom maintains its status as the region’s largest economy and leading business hub.
BPE refers to the documentation, assessment, optimization and automation of business processes with the goal of enhancing organizational productivity. The niche is still relatively new among Middle Eastern businesses, which is why Software AG, the second largest software vendor in Germany and a leading global provider of Business Process Excellence services, has decided to team up with IDS Scheer AG and WAMAD Information Technology Services Co. to highlight local and regional opportunities in BPE software and solutions. The group is co-organizing ProcessWorld 2010, a BPE-centric conference taking place on May 4, 2010 at the Riyadh Marriott Hotel in Riyadh, KSA.
“BPE has not yet totally taken off in the region so ICT players involved in this segment need to push harder to increase awareness about its numerous benefits. ProcessWorld will provide a clearer view of where BPE stands in the Saudi and regional ICT landscape and what challenges existing and interested vendors and adopters can expect as the segment grows further,” said Dr. Russell C. Gomersall, Head of IDS Scheer MENA, IDS Scheer SA LLC.
“Saudi Arabia’s private and government organizations are spending heavily on tools to optimize their performance in order to maintain the country’s status as a business hub, and yet only a fraction of them have considered worthwhile investments into Business Process Excellence solutions. Now highly competitive business environments require a movement towards higher levels of efficiency which BPE strategies can easily facilitate. As the region’s ICT leader Saudi Arabia is in a position to assume a pioneering role in expanding BPE systems use in Middle Eastern organizations,” added Marco Gerazounis, Senior Vice President, Software AG Middle East.
ProcessWorld 2010 will feature sessions on Business Process Management (BPM), its benefits and application in government; Business Process Excellence; government purchasing processes; and e-Services and BPM as foundations of the Saudi e-Government Program, among others. WAMAD President Eng. Rashid Abdullah Al-Mugait, IDS Scheer AG CEO and President Peter Gérard, and Saleh I. Al-Shabnan, Project Executive - Supply Chain Management Project EMDAD, Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC), will deliver keynote speeches. Event sponsors include WAMAD (Platinum), BPM International (Gold), and PricewaterhouseCoopers (Silver).
Two of Software AG’s major Saudi customers, SABIC and Saudi Arabian Airlines, will join other participants in presentations on the joint product portfolio of the company and IDS Scheer, which is part of the Software AG Group and a leading provider of BPM software, solutions and services for corporations and public organisations worldwide. Among the products to be discussed are Software AG’s ADABAS database management system and webMethods BPM suite and IDS Scheer AG’s ARIS BPE Platform.
