Nawras is thrilled to have won the prestigious ‘Leader in Telecommunications’ award at the recent Arab Investment Summit in Abu Dhabi. H.E. Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, managing director and chief executive officer of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) presented the award to a delighted Nawras chief executive officer Ross Cormack, who thanked customers and the people of Oman for their fantastic support over the last five years. Cormack, together with a group of six Nawras team members, proudly brought the Arab Achievement Award home to the Sultanate.
After collecting the award, Cormack sent a congratulatory email from Abu Dhabi to the rest of the Nawras family in Oman, sharing his delight and thanking them for their important contribution. “This is a fantastic honour, as the ‘Leader in Telecommunications’ award is recognising the tremendous energy, enthusiasm and dedication that everyone at Nawras is contributing everyday to give our customers a pleasingly different mobile experience. This award is all the more special because we were up against some very stiff competition with highly respected operators from across the region appearing in the same category as Nawras.”
The awards were to recognise companies with projects that have shown outstanding performance and that have made exemplary contributions to the region's development. Nawras won against strong short-listed contenders including the second largest operator in the Middle East, the dominant operator in Bahrain and the fastest moving telecom company in Bahrain.
Commenting on the exciting news, Nawras chief operating officer, Khalid Al Mahmoud, said, “We are delighted and honoured to receive this award. To be singled out amongst our peers at this prestigious, regional event once again shows how Nawras customers are consistently being served with great innovation, the latest technology and pleasingly different service. We are committed to making it easy for our customers to get closer to their family members, their friends and their colleagues, as we earnestly pursue our mission to be the best communications provider and employer of choice in Oman.”
The timing of this accolade couldn’t have been better as the award for Leader in Telecommunications adds even more enthusiasm to the highly motivated team of more than 850 caring professionals who are just about to start extending great value and excellent quality to customers with the soon-to-be-launched Nawras fixed services. Having transformed mobile telecommunications in the Sultanate, Nawras now wants to serve the people of Oman with the same innovation and leadership through a portfolio of exciting, new fixed services. Pre-registration for home broadband is already underway with customers being invited to express their interest in the new services via the company’s website or at any of the 23 Nawras stores across the country.
Nawras has been recognised with a number of awards throughout its five year history. In the latter half of 2009 alone, Nawras picked up four different awards all recognising the strength of its customer service, a top priority for this pleasingly different company. Nawras has vowed to continue living the customer experience as it becomes a full service provider delivering fixed services in the Nawras way.
