LG INFINIA Design Triumphs Again As Flagship TV Is Named Red Dot Design Award Winner 2010

Published May 19, 2010

LG Electronics (LG), a global leader and technology innovator in the flat panel display and audio-video devices market, announced that the LX9500, has won a 2010 red dot design award in recognition of its peerless INFINIA design. With a sleek and sophisticated finish, the LX9500 has an exceptionally narrow bezel, allowing images that absorb viewers right into the heart of the action. The INFINIA design particularly enriches the LX9500, the world’s first Full LED 3D TV, whose narrow bezel creates the optimum viewing environment for viewers eager to experience 3D images with no constraints.

Involving more than 12,000 submissions from more than 60 countries, the red dot design award is the largest and most prestigious design competition in the world. As a universally recognized mark of excellence, a red dot design award signifies that the winner has achieved the very highest standards of innovation and design.

With its groundbreaking INFINIA design, the LX9500 was honoured for its exceptional looks and design-related features. Slim and sleek, the LG TV has a uni-layer design and super-narrow bezel that allows for a more expansive picture, with images that practically burst out of the screen. The narrow bezel maximizes the LX9500’s 3D effect by providing an immersive viewing experience that breaks down virtual barriers –and takes 3D to an entirely different level.

Also a key part of its INFINIA design, the LX9500 uses an innovative backlight structure powered by panels of LEDs directly behind the screen. The backlighting delivers images of exceptional brightness and clarity, providing the ultimate 3D viewing experience and bringing the virtual world to life.

“Though they are of course beautiful to look at, like all the best designs, INFINIA TVs meet the highest standards of function – and then redefine them,” said Mr H.S Paik, President of LG Gulf FZE. “By drastically reducing the bezel, INFINIA TVs liberate the screen, immersing you in a viewing experience that is vivid, absorbing and utterly free.”

The red dot design award is the second honors for the LX9500’s superlative INFINIA design, following its success at the 2010 CES Innovations Awards earlier this year. The LX9500 scooped three awards at the Las Vegas event, including “Best of Innovations,” the most comprehensive and prestigious award at the CES.
