Published May 24, 2010

A member of Qtel Group, is launching an innovative graduate programme designed to promote a range of exciting career opportunities for young Omanis. Forming an important part of the development of the next generation of Nawras leaders, this search for new Nawras pioneers will be unveiled at the company’s first career fair from Tuesday. The full service telecom provider will be working closely with universities across the Sultanate to highlight the rewarding future that lies ahead for all those who are a part of the winning team in this award winning company.

This unique graduate programme will also address the way that Nawras is fully focused on customers and its talented people who look after customers. It will explore the growth and exciting challenges offered by Oman’s telecom market and show how Nawras is keen to support and develop young Omanis and how their talents will be carefully nurtured.

Starting at Sultan Qaboos University, Muscat, on 25 May, the search for Nawras pioneers will move on to the Caledonian College of Engineering at Seeb on 2 June before travelling to Nizwa University and Technical College on 9 June. Next stop will be Sohar University on 16 June with the career fair due to conclude at Dhofar University on 23 June.

Students will be addressed by the senior managers of Nawras who will be describing what it is like to be part of this dynamic team offering world class communication services. They will also be talking about the tremendous added advantages of being a part of a large group – the Qtel Group - now the largest telecommunications company in the MENA region by number of operations. This opens up the possibility of wider employment avenues for graduates in the future as well as extending opportunities for gaining valuable experience within the region.

“We are looking forward to spending time with the students and their families and meeting the enthusiastic people who will have the opportunity to join us and become our first Nawras pioneers. This is a very exciting programme to roll out nationwide and we hope to inspire a new generation of communication professionals. We have programmes covering engineering, IT, finance, marketing, sales, human resources and legal, that will propel the right students into a new dimension and allow them to develop their chosen careers in a pleasingly different way,” said Nawras chief executive officer, Ross Cormack.

As well as outlining the exciting technological challenges and rewards of working in the telecom field with one of the country’s preferred employers, Nawras is looking forward to meeting graduates and their family members to discuss their specific areas of interest and answer questions and will provide the facility for students to register their interest on the spot.

Nawras is a young company offering outstanding learning and development programmes for young people. By becoming a Nawras pioneer, graduates will gain an incredible opportunity to play their part in a challenging environment in one of Oman’s fastest growing companies on the forefront of the communications revolution.
