Impact Of Cloud Computing On IT Managed Services Discussed At Start Of 2nd Data Centre Strategies Middle East Forum

Published May 26, 2010

The region’s IT leaders gathered at the Injazat Data Systems Auditorium to assess the effects of emerging technologies such as cloud computing on the nature and delivery of IT managed services. The in-depth discussions provided an excellent start for the 2nd Data Centre Strategies Middle East Forum running until May 26, 2010.

Cloud or Internet-based computing is expected to grow into an AED 45.44 billion business within the next five years, with private clouds alone set to become an AED 42.7 billion sector. Middle Eastern data centre services providers are focusing on this technology as more of the region’s businesses shift to managed hosting to meet their IT needs. Aside from cloud computing, today’s forum participants also discussed other key issues such as data centre security, current and forecasted trends in the regional data centre markets, and financial services and third-party outsourcing during.

“On-demand technologies such as cloud computing will dramatically change the way IT services are provided in the Middle East. Industry cannot just wait for change to happen; it has to be prepared and discuss strategies to capitalize on these new delivery paradigms. The forum sessions revealed that there is still much to be done in terms of infrastructure, business alignments and capacity building to ensure that data centres maximize the opportunities associated with emerging technologies,” said Ibrahim Mohamed Lari, CEO, Injazat Data Systems.

“Injazat appreciates the strong industry response to the Forum and the enthusiasm of participants. As the owner of the region’s first Tier IV design-certified data centre we look forward to hosting future editions of this event and affirm our commitment to supporting the growth of data centre services in the Middle East,” Ibrahim added.

Held under the patronage of Injazat, the forum made its debut last year as the region’s first data centre-dedicated event. This year’s edition will include 11 executive panel sessions on topics ranging from ‘green’ strategies to return on investment projections. An important addition to the 2010 forum is the Data Centre Strategies Middle East Awards, the first-ever awards for data centre service excellence in the Middle East which will honor the industry’s top performers for 2009 in 11 categories. Injazat will participate in the Executive Leadership Roundtable to be conducted on the forum’s first day.

Injazat Data Systems was one of the Forum’s key supporters during its inaugural run in 2009. The company owns and operates the first Tier IV design-certified data centre in the Middle East and is a leading provider of data centre and other advanced managed IT services.
