The second day of Saudi Com started with a detailed insight into the opportunities for the Saudi telecoms community to engage in Economic Cities. Debating the various business model options and emphasising the importance of all components of the value chain working together, the panellists highlighted Economic Cities as a key source of new revenues for the Saudi telecoms industry.
For the remainder of the morning the main discussion centred around developing content in KSA, creating stickiness and determining best practise for revenue share agreements; MVNOs – whether there is a place for them in the Saudi market, what the benefits are to the operator and how the partnerships should be managed.
Customer retention has been a major theme of this event with an inspiring presentation by Hany Mokhtar of Mobily, concentrating on customer experience management. The costs of customer acquisition are extremely high and once attracted, subscriber retention is vital. AwalNet’s Marketing Director, Abdulrahman Obaied continued this theme, with a strategic insight on how to acquire and retain customers.
The inaugural Saudi Com event provided a unique opportunity for telecoms operators and vendors to meet in a neutral setting and determine the best processes for taking this dynamic market to the next level. As Zoran Vasiljev, Value Partners commented “This was an extremely positive step in giving focus to the largest market in the region. The pure recognition of Informa focussing on the Saudi market, demonstrates the size of the Saudi ICT sector potential and the opportunities that exist from the participants’ perspective. A lot of insights have been shared by the key stakeholders, who have provided the audience with a better view and understanding of what else can and should be done in the Kingdom.”
Next year’s event will take place on 23rd and 24th May 2011.
