Qtel’s Virgin Mobile Service Now Selling Online

Published May 30, 2010

To add to the fun and excitement of Qtel's new Virgin Mobile service, a special online store has now gone live at www.virginmobile.com.qa.

Customers visiting the online store can now review and purchase from the full range of Virgin Mobile branded products. Whether it be the latest handsets and accessories, available in a stylish range of colours and designs, the Welcome Pack and USB Modem for the Virgin Mobile Broadband service or the Welcome Pack for the exciting new mobile prepay voice service, customers can now select and purchase items at their convenience from the comfort of their own home. Customers can also recharge their Virgin Mobile account directly from the site.

The new store works with all locally issued credit and debit cards and offers complete security and protection by utilizing all of the latest industry standard online secure payment functionality in partnership with QNB. Customers purchasing items from the new store can nominate their preferred collection point from a range of pick-up locations with purchases available for collection 48 hours after purchase.

The new online sales capability complements an already rich website experience. Visitors to www.virginmobile.com.qa can also see the latest activities coming to Qatar courtesy of the Virgin Mobile Map -- an animated, interactive, multimedia map providing detailed information on all of the events coming up Qatar as well as the location of Qtel’s Virgin Mobile branded outlets in Qatar and new landmarks popping up around the country.

As an added bonus, Qtel is preparing to offer a range of special numbers online at the Virgin Mobile site, allowing people to obtain phone numbers that are personally relevant to them as well as register an interest in VIP special numbers reserved for auction. A further announcement on this is expected very soon.

The number range 33 and 37 has been allocated to Qtel by The availability of 33 numbers is particularly exciting as these numbers will all become “333” numbers from the end of July, when Qatar's number scheme is expanded by one digit.

All proceeds from sales of the special numbers will go to local charities in Qatar, to ensure that there is a community benefit from this great new programme.

As a special new service from Qtel, the Virgin Mobile brand offering in Qatar is proving incredibly popular with young people and the young-at-heart across the country. The whole brand experience was developed in partnership with The Virgin Group, so every element is designed to be fun, open and simple-to-use.

One of the major draws for customers is the simplicity of its pricing. The service is built around a clear concept – the more you talk, the less you pay. Local calls cost just QR 0.55 per minute for the first five minutes each day, and QR 0.30 per minute after that. Mobile Internet costs just QR1 per megabyte – the best value in Qatar.

In addition to the Virgin Mobile online store, customers across Qatar can also subscribe to the service at a range of dedicated retail outlets and a Contact Center, staffed by a team that has been recruited and trained to Virgin Group standards.

As a brand partnership between Qtel and Virgin Group, Qtel’s Virgin Mobile service has been designed to offer more excitement and enjoyment across Qatar.
