du Introduces First Of Its Kind One World One Rate For Mobile Internet While Roaming

Published Jun 17, 2010

Recognizing the internet’s increasing involvement in everyone’s daily lives, and in a bid to enhance its international roaming offer, du announced a flat data pricing rate for its subscribers, who are able to use mobile internet while travelling anywhere in the world. The transparent and attractive ‘One World One Rate’ for mobile internet while roaming - a first-of-its-kind offer in the GCC region - will enable customers to enjoy more value, simplicity and convenience than ever before.

“du is committed to providing top-quality, affordable and, most of all – uncomplicated – roaming services in order to cater to the needs of its international customers. Following on from our highly competitive One World One Rate, which already provides appealing and simple rates for voice and SMS usage abroad, this additional offer for mobile internet while roaming provides our customers with peace of mind, rather than having to worry about hidden international operator costs,” commented Farid Faraidooni, Chief Commercial Officer, du.

Thanks to the new offer, all du Elite Plan and Premier Plan customers with roaming service get the benefit of an attractive and unified rate for mobile internet usage – with no need to opt in for the service – paying just AED 1 per 50KB while travelling around the world.

du Elite Plan customers who do not have the roaming service activated on their line need to visit a du shop to activate the service.

du’s simplified data roaming rate is in line with the recent launch of its 'One World, One Rate', which provides the benefit of being charged a flat rate of just AED 1.25 per minute for incoming calls while roaming.

The One World One Rate for mobile internet while roaming is applicable for all mobile internet usage generated using smartphones or data dongles such as checking emails, uploading pictures on blogs, status updates on Facebook or searching for information via Google while roaming abroad, and is available with any foreign network which supports mobile internet services, apart from in-flight and satellite operators.

“We have roaming agreements with over 430 operators in over 140 countries including data roaming agreements with over 300 operators in over 100 countries. As a result of these strategic collaborations with telecom operators across the globe, we are able to offer our customers the benefit of using data services while roaming anywhere in the world,” concluded Faraidooni.
