Etisalat will be offering its customers in the UAE the convenient option to stop receiving promotional marketing SMS’ from Etisalat, thus giving them the right to be selective in the SMS that they receive.

In a joint initiative with the Telecom Regulatory Authority (TRA) and in line with its directives, Etisalat will provide customers this innovative solution whereby they can simply send ‘b etisalat’ via SMS to 1011 in order to unsubscribe from the promotional marketing messages they receive from Etisalat. If customers wish to subscribe again for receiving such promotional SMS from Etisalat, they can do so by sending SMS ‘ub etisalat’ to 1011.

Commenting on the move, Etisalat’s Senior Vice President of Marketing, Khalifa Al Shamsi said, “Etisalat has always been extremely attentive towards the needs of its valued customers and it is our responsibility to ensure them maximum flexibility in the way they use and enjoy Etisalat services. We care for and understand what they require and are happy to make this new option available to them as we are now empowering them to decide what content they receive and from whom.”

Delivering its customer care promise, Etisalat has employed sophisticated technology to ensure that customers can freely enjoy their discretion on whether or not they would like to receive promotional text messages on their mobiles.

“It is our customers’ demands that fuel Etisalat’s technological advancements. Innovative solutions such as this service are in direct response to their needs of privacy and preference. Now, they can start to exercise this hassle-free option with stopping or subscribing to Etisalat’s promotional SMS and soon, this service will be extended to let them decide if they would like to receive promotional messages from third parties”, added Al Shamsi.

The service will be available to Etisalat customers free of charge. It entitles them to stop or receive promotional marketing SMS from Etisalat and other organizations as they like, though it does not apply to the organisations that use international carriers to deliver their SMS to customers.
