Epson Wins ‘Best Proofing Printer Of The Year’ In European Digital Press Association Awards

Published Jul 11, 2010

The European Digital Press (EDP) Association has recognised the Epson Stylus Pro WT7900 24-inch printer as the ‘Best Proofing Printer of the Year 2010’ in its prestigious 2010 awards

The judging panel chose the Stylus Pro WT7900 for being designed to fulfill the specific needs of the proofing market and for being the first aqueous-based printer to produce white as well as colours.

The Stylus Pro WT7900 has been developed specifically with the packaging sector in mind, where the ability to proof white is highly advantageous. Epson UltraChrome HDR White Ink technology forces light to randomly scatter, producing the illusion of the colour white. This produces remarkable white ink density and provides professional short-term colour stability for mission-critical colour proofing on a wide range of substrates, including transparent and metallic films.

In EDP’s 2009 awards, Epson’s Stylus Pro 7900 and Stylus Pro 9900 won ‘Best Proofing Equipment of the Year’ for features such as improved UltraChrome HDR inks, pioneering Micro Piezo TFP print head technology and the optional calibration and verification system, the Epson SpectroProofer.

Khalil El-Dalu, General Manager, Epson Middle East, said, “This award demonstrates Epson’s relentless commitment to innovation and quality, and is particularly significant to the Middle East region which has a rapidly growing printing and proofing market. The Stylus Pro WT7900 incorporates Epson’s latest achievements in high-resolution inkjet technology and our UltraChrome HDR White Ink is a breakthrough in the field of proofing dense white.”
