Published Jul 26, 2010

LG Electronics (LG), a global leader and technology innovator in mobile communications, announced the launch of the LG X140, a slim and stylish netbook that maximizes connectivity through the LG Smart POP application. Running on Windows 7 Starter OS and with a slew of handy features, the 10.1-inch LG X140 packs a 1.83 GHz Intel Atom processor, a 2GB memory and a 320GB SATA HDD.

“Netbooks have been a huge hit in the PC market thanks to their benefits in connectivity and mobility, as well as their chic, colourful covers,” said Mr. H. S. Paik, President of LG Electronics Gulf. “LG is now focusing strongly on how to make consumers feel completely at ease while using netbooks, and to this end, we will continue to invest our products with the best consumer-oriented features and LG’s smartest software.”

The LG X140 boasts instant and powerful connectivity with its LG Smart POP. In addition, LG’s trademark netbook function, LG Smart POP, comes with five superb functions on the home screen: File Transfer function enables the simple transfer of folders or files between the PC and mobile phones; Dial and Message functions let users make calls or send SMS direct from the netbook’s screen; while the Contacts and Outlook Sync functions automatically synchronize all contact information in mobile phones or outlook between a mobile phone and the LG X140.

On top of LG Smart POP, the LG X140 offers an array of easy-to-use features through Smart Pack, LG’s excellent software suite. Smart On 2.0 function provides quick, seamless access to e-mail, and opens a menu of frequently used functions within just five seconds of booting the computer. The Smart Care and Smart Indicator features also help keep the netbook running at peak efficiency all the time.

The LG X140’s slim and sleek chassis comes in 3 colors white, hot pink, and black offering a complete range of options for the style-conscious consumer. With battery either six letting the LG X140 operate wirelessly for nine hours, the netbook tips the scales at either 1.3 or 1.45kg, making it a pleasure to carry around. In addition, with its LED backlighting, the 10.1-inch HD LCD screen greatly enhances the viewing experience with 1366 x 768 resolution images.

The LG X140 also packs multimedia features including a 1.3-megapixel webcam with the You-Cam viewer, and SRS TruSurround HD sound. And thanks to an embedded 3G modem chipset, users can easily get online via 3G networks.

The LG X140 is now available in the UAE and in other GCC markets, priced at AED 1799.
