Vodacom Upgrades Network Ahead Of 2010

SOUTH Africa’s Vodacom, has intensified efforts to ensure that its network is capable of handling mobile traffic during and after the 2010 Soccer World Cup.
Vodacom Chief Communications Officer, Dot Field, on Thursday said the company was making thorough preparations ahead of the historic 2010 FIFA World Cup to ensure that the event is a huge success from a mobile technology point of view.
Although she declined to comment on financial issues, she stressed that the leading cellular company in South Africa has invested heavily in the 2010 World Cup.
“Vodacom has invested significant time, resources and funds to ensure that its network is capable of handling extensive traffic during the 2010 Soccer World Cup,” Field said.
“In addition, we remain proud to be the greatest supporter of sport in South Africa. In line with our continued focus of bringing products and services closer to the consumer, we will certainly give all visitors who grace our shores, a truly memorable Vodacom and South African experience”.
Apart from its 2010 FIFA World Cup initiatives, Vodacom is also bankrolling various sporting disciplines in South Africa such as the Vodacom Super 14, Vodacom Challenge.
The Vodacom Challenge features three teams.
This year, it will comprise Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates, who are sponsored by the company, and Manchester City.
